Sesuai dengan peraturan keselamatan kerja no. 1 1970 bahwa setiap pekerja berhak atas perlindungan keselamatannya dalam melakukan pekerjaan untuk kesejahteraan hidup dan meningkatkan produksi dan produktivitas. Selain itu, setiap orang di tempat kerja juga perlu diyakinkan akan keselamatannya atau kesehatannya, serta sumber produksi apa pun harus dipakai dan digunakan dengan aman dan efisien. Dengan demikian pekerjaan keselamatan dan kesehatan merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam peristiwa industri dan aktivitas manusia di sekitar kita.
