Abstract

Background : Fracture is a condition where the bone is cut off due to significant pressure which can be in the form of bending, twisting, or pulling due to trauma, work accidents, traffic accidents, as well as degeneration and pathological processes. Fractures can result in loss of productivity and individual disability. One of the adjuvant therapies to accelerate the bone healing process in patients with fractures is hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy on the amount of osteoblasts and osteoclasts formed in ratsmodeled with diaphyseal femur fractures. Methods: This research is an experimental study using a post test only control group design. The object of this study is a rat fracture model with TOHB therapy as the independent variable and a fracture model without HBO therapy as a control variable. Results: The results of this study showed positive results on the effect of HBO therapy on the formation of osteoblastic and osteoclastic cells. Conclusion: There was a significant difference in the number of osteoblast and osteoclast in fracture model mice treated with HBO compared to those not treated with HBO. Abstract

Personal hygiene was very important, especially for young women who were menstruating. Poor hygiene could cause symptoms or diseases, especially those that could attack the female reproductive organs. One of the symptoms due to not maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation was vaginal discharge. However, every woman had experienced vaginal discharge or fluorine albus. Fluor albus was divided into 2, namely physiological or normal vaginal discharge and pathological or abnormal vaginal discharge. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect between hygiene knowledge during menstruation and fluor albus incidence on 8th and 9th grade students 1 Sidoarjo. This study used an observational analytic design by means of cross sectional data collection. The number of research subjects was 78 students with the sampling technique using consecutive sampling. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires online via Google form (gform) site aimed at the research sample. The results showed that the majority of respondents in this study had sufficient knowledge of hygiene during menstruation as many as 47 respondents with a percentage of 60% and as many as 43 respondents with a percentage of 55% experienced pathological or abnormal fluor albus. Furthermore, a statistical test was conducted using Chi-square showing that the influence between variables had a significant value of 0.604 (p >α). The conclusion of this study showed there is no effect, between hygiene knowledge during menstruation and fluor albus incidence on 8th and 9th grade students at SMPN 1 Sidoarjo.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) is significantly linked to the infections-related maternal deaths. In the inflammatory process, the influencing stressor will stimulate the activation of Nuclear Factor Kappa B (NF-κB) and Receptor of Advanced Gyclation End product (RAGE). Yet up to date, the expression of NF-κB and RAGE in pregnant women with PROM are still rarely studied. Therefore, this study aimed to observe the differences of NF-κB and RAGE expression from PROM and non-PROM subjects.METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study involving 20 PROM subjects and 20 non-PROM subjects with infections and complications. Samples from the fetal membrane tissue of subjects were obtained and put into paraffin block preparation for the determination of NF-κB and RAGE expression. The detection of NF-κB and RAGE expression was conducted using immunohistochemical staining and observed under an upright light microscope. The expressions were later calculated using ImageJ software. RESULTS: Both NF-κB and RAGE expression were found to be higher in PROM subjects compare to the non-PROM subjects. The median of NF-κB in PROM and non-PROM subjects were 32.47±1.22 and 5.59±1.09, respectively (p=0.000). While the median of RAGE in PROM subjects was 53.58±3.46, and in non-PROM subjects was 11.64±2.49 (p=0.013).CONCLUSION: There is significant difference between NF-κB and RAGE expression in fetal membranes of PROM and non-PROM subjects. Therefore, the increased of NF-κB and RAGE expression can be used as a potential marker to detect complication of PROM.KEYWORDS: premature ruptures of membrane, non-premature ruptures of membrane, expression of NF-κB

Abstract

The phenomenon of dietary habit that is more common among college students currently is fast food, because of its popularity than other types of food. The data showed that the highest level of fast food consumption occurred among students, including university students. This research was aimed at the students of Medical Faculty at Hang Tuah University, Surabaya, because of the tight lecture schedule, often affected the dietary habit and tended to choose foods that were less nutritious. This research aimed at determining the relationship between peer motivation and fruit and vegetable consumption behavior among students of the Medical Faculty 2018, Hang Tuah University, Surabaya. This research applied an observational analytic design through data collection by cross sectional. The numbers of research subjects were 96 students by the sampling technique using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted by distributing online questionnaires through the jotform website which aimed at the research sample. The data that has been collected showed that the respondent's sense of motivation from peers was classified as sufficient (64.6%), continued well (22.9%) and less (12.5%). The results of the fruit and vegetable consumption behavior of the respondents showed that most of them had a good level (87.5%) and those who were less (12.5%). The data was analyzed by the Spearman`s Rho correlation test. It showed that there was a significant relationship between peer motivation and fruit and vegetable consumption behavior (p = 0.007).

Abstract

COVID-19 is a severe pandemic outbreak caused by SARS CoV-2 in China on December 2019, it has spread to various countries very quickly. The preventive spread of the virus is applied to physical distancing. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the level of knowledge and attitude towards behavior to carry out physical distancing to breaking the spread of COVID-19 to 7th-semester students of the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University, Surabaya. Analytic observational method with a quantitative approach to cross-sectional study design. A total of 67 samples using the simple random sampling method. The information has been collected online on November 2020 in 7th-semester students of the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University, Surabaya. The Results Spearman's correlation test analysis showed that the p-value=0.604 (> 0.05) for the knowledge and behavior variables, while the p-value = 0.385 (> 0.05) for the attitude and behavior variables, so HO accepted. The correlation value is 0.064 for the knowledge and behavior variables, while the correlation value is 0.108 for the attitude and behavior variables. Both indicated “very weak” strength and positive direction of correlation. The conclusion of this study is uncorrelation between the level of knowledge and attitude towards behavior to carry out physical distancing to breaking the spread of COVID-19 to 7th-semester students of the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University, Surabaya.

Abstract

The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia in 2020 caused many changes in the government sector, work and even education. Online learning has several impacts from various sides, both for educators and on students, one of which is increased stress. Stress has various effects, one of which is eating disorder, therefore the researcher wanted to know whether there is an effect of stress level during online lectures on binge eating disorder. This research is an analytic observational study, with a cross sectional type. This study used a sample of 238 respondents, and the sampling used the quota sampling method. In taking the sample, the researcher used the DASS-42 and BES questionnaires, assisted by the google form instrument. Data processing was carried out statistically using = 0.05 and hypothesis testing using Spearman correlation. Measurement of stress levels showed that 159 respondents had normal stress levels, 38 respondents had mild stress levels, 23 respondents had moderate stress levels, 14 respondents had severe stress levels, and 4 respondents had very severe stress levels. In the measurement of binge eating disorder, there were 212 respondents with no/mild BED levels, 22 respondents with moderate BED levels, and 4 respondents with severe BED levels. The data above was tested for Spearman correlation, and obtained significant results (α = 0.000), where there is an influence between stress levels and binge eating disorder. The level of stress affects the severity of binge eating disorder, therefore it is necessary to do adequate stress management to avoid the possible effects of binge eating disorder, as well as the effects of other stress.
