Abstract

Mass media plays an important role in delivering messages and information to the public. Television media is the most trusted media source to get information. Crime news has high stimulation for its viewers because safety ranks first for basic human needs. The investigation buser program is a criminal news program that is presented in more depth. It is undeniable that television media can influence people's attitudes, behavior, and perceptions, one of which is anxiety. Anxiety is one of the natural reactions that arise in humans. This study aims to determine the effect of exposure to the SCTV investigation buser program "tempe cardboard wrapped in paper" on the anxiety of the people of Pematangsiantar. The theory used in this research is media exposure, anxiety, and uses and gratification theory. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method. The results obtained a correlation of 0.605 for the r table in this study according to the distribution of values of 0.194, which is 0.605 > 0.194 which is 0.605 > 0.194 and it is proven that there is a relationship between variables. With a percentage of 36.7% and the rest is influenced by other factors
