Abstract

Margasari Village has different regional characteristics, the difference in the characteristics of the area causes differences in the waste management system in Margasari Village between land and water areas, resulting in differences in waste management methods and techniques. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the problem of solid waste management systems in land and water areas that cause it is not achieved optimally, using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. After the data processing and analysis were carried out, the factors that influenced the solid waste management system problems in Margasari Village were based on the components of the solid waste management system, namely operational techniques, institutions, financing, law and regulation, community roles and physical conditions, so that the results of the waste management system priority factors in Margasari Village, namely in the mainland area, the Community Role Indicator has a weight value of 0.29, and the priority weight of the Waste The processing variable has a weight value of 0.100 which is a variable that affects the problem of Community Roles in the Solid Waste Management System in Land Areas. Meanwhile, in the area over water, the Community Role Indicator has a weight value of 0.31 with a priority weight of the influencing variable Waste Processing with a weight value of 0.093.

Abstract

Currently, there are many programs from the government related to urban villages. One of them is Kampung Kota Baru Tengah in Balikpapan City, which is the location for the Community-Based Settlement Environmental Management program (KOTAKU Program). The socialization program is carried out with an approach to the informal community. Socialization through community media is the mainstay of the government so that existing programs can be realized properly in society. This study aims to see the similarity of perceptions regarding space as a place to live. Considering that a common perception is one of the first steps to achieving the success of the KOTAKU program, where a common perception of where to live will become the vision of development in residential areas so that people will be more consistent in implementing the KOTAKU program. This study uses Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis, which will then map the perceptions of settlements. The results of the perception mapping formed show that individuals in each community have different perceptions of settlements. Based on perceptions of reconciliation grouping, we found that 51% chose identity as the main reason for staying and 48.5% chose location dependence as the main reason for staying. This perception formed in the community suggests that government strategies for environmental and housing improvement programs are advocated to reflect or strengthen people's sense of identity and place dependability. Strengthening this sense of identity can be linked to any development activity that can reflect local wisdom, while the location dependency aspect can be linked to improving settlement infrastructure.

Abstract

Kelurahan Baru Tengah, located in Balikpapan, is a densely populated area. Still, the lack of community participation and awareness in waste management is seen from the accumulation of waste outside the waste shelter (TPS). This condition has an impact on hygiene and public health. Waste accumulation outside the waste shelter can also be caused by inadequate TPS facilities or limited TPS capacity. Therefore, research was carried out to evaluate waste containers in Kelurahan Baru Tengah. This research was conducted through field observations and waste sampling per the procedures listed in the SNI. Waste sampling was conducted eight days at three residential locations based on house conditions and two waste shelter locations to determine waste generation, composition, and characteristics. The results of this study showed that waste generation for permanent housing was 0.13 kg/person/day, waste generation for semi-permanent housing was .0.13 kg/person/day, and for non-permanent housing was 0.21 kg/person/day. The waste composition in Kelurahan Baru Tengah was dominated by organic waste at 50%, consisting of food and vegetable and fruit waste. The characteristic test showed that the waste in Kelurahan Baru Tengah had a moisture content of 90% and a C/N ratio of 17.6%.
