Abstract

Donokerto village is one of the pioneering tourist villages that has good potential in terms of diversity of tourist attractions. In addition to tourist attraction, as a major factor triggering visits, homestay is one of the main strategic sources of income to be taken into account in every tourism village management. Remembering Homestay is a basic necessity for every tourist who wants to visit the village for a longer time. As a tourism village that is being pioneered, Desa Donokerto does not yet have human or community resources that understand in the ins and outs of Homestay management. Therefore, the AMPTA Yogyakarta Tourism School in collaboration with PUM Netherlands Senior Experts held a community service with the theme "Training on Managing Homestay in Donokerto Village". This community service activity was carried out by the presentation method and then followed by panel discussions. The recommendation from this service activity is that managing the right homestay is a crucial factor in creating a safe, comfortable and tourist-friendly village. For this reason, it is expected that the community in managing the homestay must meet the criteria for product, service and management aspects.

Abstract

A house is one of people’s primary needs. However, people in rural area sometimes do not realize the importance of a proper house to live in. The government through integral settlement and rural environment developing program has been trying to change the perspective of rural people. Success of this program depends on how the people make it so that this program is always on progress and continuity takes place.

Abstract

Yaqowiyu is one syncretism practice that still survives to this day in Indonesia. Ritual held every “Sapar” evolved since this days of Islamic Mataram. The purpose of the ritual is to remember the great merit of Ki Ageng Gribig, one of the missionaries of Islam in Jatinom Klaten during the reign of the “Sultan Agung Hanyokrokusumo”. Yaqowiyu ritual uniqueness lies in deployment “apem” in peak ceremony, which is around cake made of rice flour with coconut pieces in the middle. This research aims to reveal the meaning of Yaqowiyu. Research methods used are observation, life history interviews and historical method is to do an analysis of the documents. The results showed that Javanese people is still strong believe in animism. Yaqowiyu interpreted as a ritual to mantain the safety and peace embodied by the behavior of “ngalap berkah”. “Apem” cake meant as a tool to realize their request. But on the other hand, Yaqowiyu also be used as a propaganda strategy to spread the religion of Islam. At this point, Yaqowiyu also be interpreted as a tourist commodity that can be sold.

Abstract

Sunday Morning market is a weekly market that is open on Sundays morning at Gadjah Mada University area. It is a place for informal traders to sell their goods. The analysis shows that there are some patterns of social networks between traders, suppliers and buyers in Sunday Morning market. The formation of social networks among traders is a horizontal network, based on kinship ar friendship. They have the same resources and obligations to be exchanged. The social relationship itself will be manifested in help each others. The social networks formed through kinship has important role to overcome social pressures, poverty, unemployment and limited access in getting economic resources. It is common in the informal trading sector, traditional management applied based on friendship, kinship or origin. The formation of social networks between traders and suppliers is such a vertical social networks, by which the socio-economic status is not worth, as well the exchanged of obligations and resources.The relation between them is patron-client relationship. Whereas, social networks between sellers and buyers is based on the network of interest, social networks between sellers and buyers based on the network of interest in each other.
