Abstract

Abstract. The genus Brassica is one of the largest genera of flowering plants, which has more than 3000 species distributed worldwide. In addition, in this genus Brassica there are many types of vegetables that are beneficial to human life. This literature search aims to determine the potential of vegetables from the genus Brassica such as cabbage, broccoli and radishes as antibacterial, to know the extraction method, to know their secondary metabolites and the mechanism of action of secondary metabolites produced by the genus Brassica as antibacterial. The methodology used is a library search on the website. The results of the literature search showed that the Brassica genus of cabbage, broccoli and radish had antibacterial potential against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus mutans, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia. Shigella sonei, Salmonella paratyphi, Salmonella thypi dan Proteus vulgaris. With maceration and Soxhlet extraction methods and suspected antibacterial compounds derived from the genus Brassica, namely glucosinolates which act as typical compounds from the genus Brassica and other compounds flavonoids, polyphenols, tannins, saponins and alkaloids. With the mechanism of the compound inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. Abstrak. Genus Brassica merupakan salah satu genus tanaman berbunga terbesar, yang memiliki lebih dari 3000 spesies yang terdistribusi di seluruh dunia. Selain itu dalam genus Brassica ini terdapat banyak jenis sayuran yang bermanfaat bagi kehidupan manusia. Penelusuran pustaka ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi sayuran dari genus Brassica jenis kubis, brokoli dan lobak sebagai antibakteri, mengetahui metode ekstraksi nya, mengetahui senyawa metabolit sekunder nya dan mekanisme kerja senyawa metabolit sekunder yang dihasilkan genus Brassica sebagai antibakteri. Dengan metodelogi yang digunakan yaitu penelusuran pustaka pada website. Hasil penelusuran pustaka yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa genus Brassica jenis kubis, brokoli dan lobak memiliki potensi antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus mutans, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia. Shigella sonei, Salmonella paratyphi, Salmonella thypi dan Proteus vulgaris. Dengan metode ekstraksi maserasi dan Soxhlet dan diduga antibakteri berasal dari senyawa khas genus Brassica yaitu glukosinolat yang berperan sebagai senyawa khas dari genus Brassica dan senyawa lain flavonoid, polifenol, tanin, saponin dan alkaloid. Dengan mekanisme senyawa menghambat sintesis dinding sel bakteri.
