Abstract

This is an associative research to identify the relation between two or more variables. The variables studied are international tourist visits, domestic tourist visits, and the tourism employment in Indonesia. The research used SPSS and normality test data analysis, classic assumption test, double linier regression, and hypothetical test. From the double linier regression formula then resulted that the constant value is 15.401. It means that if there is no amount of international and domestic tourist visit, then the number of employment in tourism sector is 15.401. If there is one added to the number of international tourist visit, then it will influence the number of employment of 2.086. If there is one added to the number of domestic tourist visit, then it will influence the number of employment of -0.096. If using the double linear regression method, it is better to use R square adjusted to 0.886 or 88.6%. This shows that the percentage of the influence of independent variables (the number of international and domestic tourist visit) able to explain as much as 88.6% of dependent variable (the number of employment in tourism sector). As for the 11.4% is influenced by other variables not explained in the research. Hence, it is important to conduct research related to other variables that also influence the tourism employment.

Abstract

Cross-border posts have a big role in contributing foreign tourists to Indonesia, but until now the records carried out are still less optimal. This study aims to identify the potential for tourist visits through the Builalo?s Cross-border Post, so that the development of tourism that depends on this post can be further optimized. By using descriptive methods where data is collected through documentation studies, field observations, and interviews. This research has successfully identified that the Builalo Cross-border Post located in East Nusa Tenggara Province has the potential for foreign tourists to visit an average of 5.55 per day or 2,026 foreign tourists per year. Foreign tourist visits through this gate are strongly influenced by the Market Day which is held every Thursday, where that day always has the highest peak visit in 1 week, and it is estimated that the average visit on that day is 23.7. foreign tourist visits. Inadequate facilities and infrastructure are the most serious challenges in the development of Tourism in the area adjacent to this gate. Because visiting friends or relatives is another main goal besides visiting market days, it creates more economic activity (trade, festivals, etc.) and an increase in supporting facilities is felt very necessary.  Key words: Cross-border Post, Tourism, International Tourist Arrivals.

Abstract

The seasonal pattern of tourist arrivals is an important element that must be observed in making policies in the field of tourism marketing. By using the method of calculation, the Seasonality Ratio, Gini Coefficients, and Seasonality Index, this study aims to identify seasonal patterns of foreign tourist arrivals to Bali during the past 5 years. This study shows that: First, foreign tourists’ arrivals to Bali showed insignificant levels of variation and an equation of seasonal variations patterns is found in 2015, 2016, and 2019. Second, foreign tourist arrivals to Bali had a distribution per month that is relatively evenly distributed, with low seasonal rates, or the difference between monthly arrivals has an insignificant difference in value. Third, peak season of foreign tourists’ arrivals to Bali was concentrated in July with a drastic increase from the previous month and accompanied by a slowing decline towards the off-peak season. So, it is necessary to do an appropriate marketing and resource allocation strategies to optimize each seasonal phase.

Abstract

Changes in the framework, methodology, and indicators used by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in measuring and ranking the competitiveness of world tourism through the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) have implications for Indonesian government policies in achieving the target of tourism competitiveness rankings. By using a qualitative descriptive approach, and documentation study techniques in data collection, this policy study aims to provide an overview of the policy implications of the issuance of the 2021 TTDI. The legal umbrella for increasing tourism competitiveness consists of laws, presidential regulations, government regulations, and ministerial regulations. In 2019 Indonesia's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) ranking was 40, but after conversion using the TTDI framework, methodology, and indicators, the rank dropped to 44. Indonesia's TTDI ranking in the 2021 edition is 32, meaning an increase of 12. The change from TTCI to TTDI has implications for adjustment of the target performance indicators related to tourism competitiveness written in the president's regulation and the regulation of the minister of tourism and creative economy. This change also causes ministries/agencies to remap supporting indicators that potentially impact adjusting the legal umbrella related to cross-sectoral coordination of tourism implementation in Indonesia.
