Abstract

The Indonesian government has a vision to become the world's best sustainable palm oil producer with the aim of producing 40 million tons of palm oil in 2020 for food and for energy. The country must produce must double in the next 10 years. This condition raises black campaign from various parts of the world. Palm oil is a destroyer of the earth, but on the other hand the potential for food security in the world plays a very big role, especially for edible oil and energy.. This study aimed to determined the oil extraction rate in crude palm oil and minor components (tocol content and beta-carotene) at altitudes of 650 meters above sea level and 850 meters above sea level. This study used a completely non-factorial randomized design with parameters of unriped, riped and over riped. The results showed that the maturity level of oil palm fruit affected the oil extraction rate, beta-carotene, tocol content (tocopherol and tocotrienol) of crude palm oil produced at altitude of 650 meters above sea level and 850 meters above sea level. Riped fruit has high oil extraction rate, and the minor component were measured by tocol content and beta-carotene contained in crude palm oil.

Abstract

Mesocarp or fruit flesh is the main component of the cultivation of oil palm which is extracted to Crude Palm Oil (CPO). The amount of CPO produced from processing in palm oil mills is influenced by the quality of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). Some factors that influence the quality of FFB are the type of crossing, plant age, maintenance level and fraction of fruit maturity. Adequacy of nutrients N, P, K, and Mg play a role in fruit formation and are expected to increase levels of CPO. In connection with this matter, research on the relationship / nutrient correlation with CPO content is needed. This research was conducted in October 2017 - March 2018 in the field with land suitability classes S1 (Maradja Hill), S2 (Limau Mungkur), S3 (Bah Birung Ulu) and STIPAP LPP Medan Practice Gardens. Processing data with single and multiple linear regression. Leaf samples were analyzed with the Sochlet apparatus in STIPAP Processing Laboratory. In general, the average nutrient content of leaves N, P, K were the normal category and nutrient Mg, Cl were deficiency category. The level of CPO (oil / mesocarp) varies from 31.14% - 59.59%. With single nutrient regression N, P, K, Cl has a positive correlation with CPO levels while Mg is negatively correlated. Multiple regression analysis of nutrient N, P, K, Mg and Cl has significant effect on O / N with a correlation coefficient of 0.744.

Abstract

Palm Oil Millprocessingfreshfruit bunches (FFB) into palm oil andpalm kernel. In an effort to maintain quality and improve productivity, one ofthefactors that must be considered is theproblem ofmaintenance of the facilities / production machine. This study discusses the causes and consequences caused by the breakdown occurred Sterilizer machine, particularly on HorizontalSterilizer and vertical Sterilizer. To get a machine that can be maintained keterandalannya needed a good concept. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a good concept to realize this. This concept, in addition to involving all personnel in the company, also aims to take care ofall the production facilities ofthe company. The data used is the data breakdown Horizontal Sterilizer and Vertical Sterilizer during the months from July to September 2015. In addition, this study also discusses the performance ofmaintenance mills, taking into account the value Mean Time beetwen Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and availability machine, using data from the foreman daily recordfor the month ofJuly 2015 until September 2015. So that later will know the actual state o f the company's information about treatment systems, especially in Sterilizer whether good or bad. Horizontal Sterilizerresearch results in July availablity value of99.50%, 0.42 hours maintainability and reliability value of283.75 hours while Vertical Sterilizerseptember availablity value of 98%, the value o f the maintainability o f 1.7 hours and 126.95 hours reliability value indicating reliability good, availability andperformance meets the standard ofthe lower maintenance operator will be well andgood.

Abstract

Palm oil is a vegetable oil intended for oleofood and oleochemical products. Consumption of products are increasing. This study aims to determine the quality characteristics measured through free fatty acids, peroxide numbers and color of palm oil that produced from higlands crop. Palm fruits used in this study were obtained from Bah Birung Ulu Estate North Sumatera owned by PTPN 4 with an altitude 850 meters above sea level. Palm oil that produced from highland crops have free fatty acids (FFA) that increase with the increase of fruits maturity. FFA at the initial phase of maturity and after maturity phase (over ripa) were 5%, 7.6%, and 8,7 % respectively. Peroxide numbers and color of crude palm oil were fluctuating according to fruit maturity. The red color of crude palm oil at the beginning of fruit maturity will increase as the fruit maturity increases but will decrease over ripe phase.

Abstract

Latex is a white, milky liquid that comes out of injured plants from the Hevea brasiliensi plant. Heveabrasiliensi latex can be processed into rubber because it has good properties which contain rubber particlesin the form of poly isopropene hydrocarbons which are the main components of rubber. In this study, latexcoagulation used an organic coagulant as a latex coagulant, namely extract from pineapple fruit and liquidsmoke from rubber wood, oil palm midrib, coconut shell. The results of coagulation were measured by thequality of dry rubber content (KKK) and PRI. Supported by secondary data, namely literature taken fromjournals and browsing on the internet. The results showed that the best coagulant material was produced bypineapple extract 80%, liquid smoke of coconut shell with a pH of 4.1, liquid smoke of palm fronds with a pHof 3.2, and liquid smoke of rubber wood with a pH of 2.6.

Abstract

One of the environmental problems in Indonesia is plastic waste which is made from synthetic materials. This synthetic plastic waste is very difficult to decompose in the soil and takes 300-500 years to completely decompose. Therefore, bioplastic is an alternative to this problem. The purpose of this journal review is to calculate the cellulose potential of empty bunches (EFB) and oil palm midribs (PKS) through several processes, namely the delignification process and the bleaching process. ) 31.7%. So it can be said that empty fruit bunch cellulose (TKKS) and palm fronds (PKS) have enormous potential to meet the needs of bioplastic raw materials.

Abstract

Oil palm trunks can produce quite a lot of sap water, which is approximately 10 per day for 1 month for 1 oil palm tree that is uprooted, currently, there is not much optimal processing of palm oil with an economical selling price, for this reason, it is necessary to develop functional foods. This study aims to determine whether palm sap can be used in the manufacture of symbiotic beverage products with optimum chemical, microbiological and organoleptic qualities. The study was arranged using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 3 treatments of incubation time, namely 12 hours, 24 hours, and 36 hours with each treatment using 6 replications so that 18 experiments were carried out. The best treatment by SNI 2981:2009 was obtained at an incubation time of 24 hours, namely with a pH of 5.2, water content is 82.50%, total dissolved solids is 17.33%, the lactic acid content is 0.81%, a total lactic acid bacteria of 2.8 x 108 and produces a minimum dense texture with sufficient acidity. The organoleptic aspect of taste and aroma at 24 hours of incubation time was favored or acceptable to consumers with a taste score of 3.3b and aroma of 3.3ab (scale 1-5) in the hedonic rating test. Meanwhile, at 36 hours of incubation, consumers did not like it with a taste score of 2.2a and aroma of 2.1a. This is because the longer the fermentation time can increase the acidity of the product which causes the distinctive taste and aroma of palm sap to increase.

Abstract

Getah lontar ini dapat diolah menjadi nata dengan bantuan Acetobacter xylinum. Waktu penelitian selama 3 bulan yaitu dari bulan Mei 2021 – Juli 2021. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dan terdiri dari 4 taraf perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A tanpa penambahan ekstrak tauge. , perlakuan B dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge. 2%, perlakuan C dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge 4%, dan perlakuan D dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge 6%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira nira menghasilkan hasil pada perlakuan A sebesar 67,64%, perlakuan B sebesar 68,26%, perlakuan C sebesar 68,39%, dan perlakuan D sebesar 68,51%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira nira menghasilkan kadar air pada perlakuan A sebesar 84,37%, perlakuan B sebesar 83,26%, perlakuan C sebesar 82,63%, dan perlakuan D sebesar 80,98%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira aren menghasilkan serat kasar pada perlakuan A sebesar 7,05% dan perlakuan D sebesar 6,45%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira aren menghasilkan kadar abu pada perlakuan A sebesar 0,615% dan perlakuan D sebesar 0,81%. Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan D dengan rendemen 68,51%, kadar air 80,98%, serat kasar 6,45%, dan kadar abu 0,81%. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan aroma dan rasa tidak normal, sedangkan warna dan tekstur normal.
