Abstract

Teachers do not need to be “preachers” who continues lecturing and cramming the students with a lot of theories. In this modern era, a child should not be treatedlike a “wastebasket” which just became a reservoir of knowledge. Learners need tobe treated as a whole and holistic as human learner will absorb the experience as much as possible through the learning process interesting and fun. Therefore, the class needs to be designed as a “mini-society” that is able to provide an overview of how the students interact with each other. In other words, the class should be able to become a “magnet” that can suck the students’ interest and attention of students to continue to learn, not as prison that restrains their freedom to think, talk, argue, take the initiative, or interaction. Keywords: Deep dialogue/critical thinking, teaching methood, innovative.

To obtain those benefits and success should be based on several principles of the established quality management. The starting entry of foreign University enliven the “competition” existed in Indonesia. The University is not only seen as the center of science, research, and community service, but also as the corporation entity of “producing science” that needs to compete to ensure the survival. The competition, as experienced by companies for profit, covers the competition of quality, price, and service. University as nonprofit entity also faces the same case. To manage these all, it needs the knowledge and skill of management namely integrated quality management of University. Keywords: Integrated Quality Management, Transformation of Management, University

Abstract

The presence of big companies holding the certificate of cultivation right on lands or hak guna usaha in Mesuji, Lampung has triggered numerous land conflicts. Various efforts have been made, but in fact, they have not been able to resolve the conflicts. A new approach in resolving the conflicts is, thus, needed. This article, using descriptive-qualitative research method, tries to present a new model of resolution of land conflicts in Mesuji, Lampung Province, based on local wisdom called piil pesenggiri, the philosophical values of Lampung people. Piil pesenggiri itself is a sense of self-esteem; it is principles the Lampung people must follow in order to live in dignity. The article argues that the values contained in piil pesenggiri can be used to resolve the land conflicts in Mesuji since they have been inherent in the life of Lampung society. The values are such as juluk adek (principles of success), nemuin yimah (principles of respect), nengah nyappur (principles of equality), and sakai sambayan (principles of cooperation). All those values are a manifestation of peace culture that can be used as a medium of conflict resolution.

Abstract

Education is the way to prepare the next generation with excellence and competitiveness and Islamic education is no exception. Islamic education, which aims to form the perfect man (insan kamil), is faced with complicated problems of globalization era characterized by the transformation of information. Islam must dominate the quality of education, to be both resistant and flexible with the times. To form a solid Islamic education takes various steps. Reconstruction of the essence and urgency of Islamic education is a way to drown out the dichotomy of science, since all sciences, according to Islam, comes from one authority. The concept of pluralism education should be done so that Muslims are not conflicted in the belief of monopolistic practices. By understanding and accepting diversity, the nature of tolerance and inclusivity have been more mature so that Muslims are able to exchange thoughts for future progress. The term "reconstruction" in this paper indicates that there has been an existing paradigm used in Islamic education. However, this paradigm must now be designed or renewed so that Islamic education is able to build a democratic, religious, innovative, and ready person to face the challenges of the transformation of great and rapid information.
