Abstract

This research aimed to administer the teacher students to improve their English teaching especially in assisting dynamic classroom interaction to young learners. The analysis of the research was descriptive based on Lesson Study (LS) as one of the teacher professional developments. It leads teacher students develop their professionalism collaboratively. The instruments of this research were documentation, observation, and field notes. The data were taken from cycles in Lesson Study (Plan, Do, and See). There were ten research participants with different roles; five students as observers and the other were the model teachers. Therefore, this LS applied five cycles. However, the result of this research revealed that LS facilitated teacher students to enhance their teaching. It was showed from the fifth cycles with five different teacher models where the classroom interaction was dynamically performed.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji pemikiran Syaikh Ahmad Mustafa Al-Maraghy. Ia adalah mufassir yang kupasan tafsirnya menggunakan pendekatan adab al-ijtima’iy (budaya, sosial kemasyarakatan). Pemikirannya dipengaruhi oleh para pendahulunya  seperti M. Abduh, M. Rasyid Ridha dan M. Mustafa al-Maraghy. Tafsir ini memiliki corak mederen dengan memandang bahwa al-Qur’an adalah bagian dari bukti kekuasaan dan tanda kebesaran Allah SWT. Membedah pintu tajdid secara luas dengan meninggalkan taklid buta. Kupasan kajiannya  menembus lapisan bawah - atas  sampai pejabatat tinggi. Pesan utamanya adalah kembali memurnikan ajaran al-Qur’an dengan meninggalkan bid’ah, takhayul dan khurafat.

Abstract

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is an exciting movement in language education.  It widens the opportunities for English teachers and researchers to explore the curriculum, course planning and implementation of ESP education. However, there are several problems in teaching ESP. one of the most problems is students’ engagement in the class because they felt learning English unrelated to their major. Therefore, this research concerns to investigate the implementation of Lesson Study in Teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to sharpen the students’ critical thinking. Lesson Study has been a precious motion for recent decades, principally for the sake of teachers’ professional development and students’ critical thinking. This research involved 5 ESP teachers. They acquired equal chance to be a teacher model and observer in the LS process. This research conducted in 2 cycles with three phases; Plan, Do, and See. This research employed observation and document analysis as the tools to collect the data. This Lesson study was implemented into two stages, planning and implementation. However, it can encourage the students to participate actively along the learning process because cycle 1 can provide student’s participation 90% and in cycle 2, 95% of students involved in the learning process.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mendiskusikan tentang tiga hal, yaitu kekuasaan kepala negara dan kepala pemerintahan, fungsi kepala negara dan posisinya sebagai khalifah, serta hak dan kewajiban kepala negara. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa; pertama, dalam perspektif politik modern, kekuasaan dalam suatu negara membawa perubahan sejalan dengan sistem negara demokratis dan modern yang ada. Salah satu diantaranya mengakibatkan pemisahan antara kekuasaan kepala negara dan kepala pemerintahan, meskipun dalam prakteknya beberapa di antaranya saling berkombinasi. Kedua, pada sejarah Islamic Dustur, pemisahan antara kekuasaan kepala negara dan kepala pemerintahan bukanlah merupakan hal yang sangat penting, tetapi yang perlu digarisbawahi adalah fungsi dan posisi sebagai imam atau khalifah yang dalam konteks keilmuan adalah pemilik otoritas tertinggi dari pemerintahan negara. Ketiga, kepala negara memiliki hak dan kewajiban yang jelas (nyata), berdasarkan pada norma hukum Islam yang berdasar pada al-Quran maupun al-Sunnah. Segala sesuatu harus dilaksanakan dengan penuh tanggung jawab.

Abstract

Abstrak: Makalah ini membahas masalah (1) pembatasan kekerasan dalam rumah tangga, (2) hubungan antara feminisme dan kekerasan dalam rumah tangga, (3) faktor kekerasan dalam rumah tangga Muslim, dan (4) posisi Islam sebagai solusi . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga adalah berbagai bentuk tindakan yang dilakukan dengan sengaja untuk menyakiti, melukai, membuat penderitaan jasmani dan rohani, bukanlah hal yang mendidik seperti yang diajarkan oleh agama atau undang-undang, (2) gerakan feminis yang menggugat isi ajaran agama Islam yang mengatur pola hubungan suami istri dengan tujuan "menghasut" perempuan tidak akan membuat martabat dan derajat perempuan menjadi lebih mulia dan dihormati, tapi akan membuat perempuan sebagai pelaku kekerasan dalam rumah tangga seperti yang terjadi di Belanda, (3) faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya kekerasan dalam rumah tangga meliputi: (i) sikap nusyuz suami atau istri, (ii) kurangnya pemahaman, terutama praktek ajaran Islam oleh individu , (iii) terus berkembang "hasutan" kaum feminis, (iv) sikap tercermin dalam budaya keserakahan yang mendahulukan hak dari kewajiban, (v) nilai-nilai budaya patriarki yang menganggap bahwa posisi perempuan lebih rendah dari laki-laki, (vi) lemahnya tatanan hukum, (vii) faktor sistemik, terutama penerapan sistem kapitalis, yang memisahkan agama dan kehidupan sekuler, dan (viii) faktor yang terkait dengan cacat individu dalam memecahkan masalah seperti kurang mampu berkomunikasi, mengendalikan emosi, dan mencari solusi, dan (4) upaya yang ditawarkan oleh doktrin Islam untuk mencegah terjadinya kekerasan dalam rumah tangga meliputi: (i) untuk suami sebagai pemimpin atau istri sebagai pengikut mampu melihat dan menghargai sisi baik yang dimiliki oleh pasangan, (ii) memberikan saran dan peringatan untuk pasangan yang penuh kasih sayang nusyu>z sesuai yang diajarkan oleh agama, (iii) mengerahkan kewajiban suami dan istri dengan yang terbaik, dan (iv) berkomunikasi dengan baik. Abstract: This paper discusses the problem of (1) restriction of domestic violence, (2) the relationship between feminism and domestic violence, (3) the factors of violence in the Muslim Household, and (4) the position of Islam as a solution. The results showed that: (1) Domestic Violence are various forms of action that was done deliberately in order to hurt, injure, make the external and the internal suffering, not to educate as taught by religion or legislation, (2) movement feminists who sued the content of religious teachings of Islam who set the pattern of relationship of husband and wife with the aim of "inciting" the women will not make women's dignity and degree of the more noble and respected, but will make the women as perpetrators of domestic violence as had happened in the Netherlands, (3) the factors that influence the occurrence of domestic violence include: (i) the attitude nushuz of husband or wife, (ii) lack of understanding, especially the practice of the teachings of Islam by individuals, (iii) the ever-expanding "incitement" committed feminists, (iv) attitude is reflected in the culture of greed that precede rights than obligations, (v) cultural values of patriarchy that consider that the position of women is lower than men, (vi) the weak of legal order, (vii) systemic factors, especially the application of the capitalist system, which separates religion and secular life, and (viii) the factors associated with individual disability in solving problems such as less able to communicate, control emotions, and find solutions, and (4) efforts offered by the doctrine of Islam to prevent the occurrence of domestic violence include: (i) for the husband as the leader or the wife as a follower able to see and appreciate the good side which is owned by a partner, (ii) provide advice and warnings to the couple who lovingly nushuz appropriate affection taught by religion, (iii) exert obligation of the husband and wife with the best, and (iv) communicate well. Abstract

Abstract: Gus Dur is son of a great kiai, grandson of K.H. Hasyim Ashari, caretaker of Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng and son of former Minister of Religious Affairs in the cabinet of Sukarno. He is a controversial and eccentric figure. Gus Dur asralism figure capable of flapping wings in five fields at once; religion, democracy, ideology, culture, and politics. Frequently his attitudes and actions confuse great kiais. Moreover, his students as a large part of the community based nahdliyyin stress, unable to understand his flow of thought and action. When Gus Dur became president, he appearing on the front line to teach the people of Indonesia for practicing "true democracy". When criticized by those who are opposed, he was ready to accept it, to not retaliate in any way (al-though to be president). His thoughts, attitudes and actions are always consistent, in order to straighten out the way ideology, culture and politics. Keywords: Gus Dur, religion, democracy, ideology, culture and politics.
