Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the obstacle of online learning from home by children and to know the mothers role to accompany their children in learning during pandemic COVID-19. The research employed a qualitative method based on purposive sampling to choose the subjects such as children and parents. Interview, observation, and documentation were employed to collect data. Then, data were analyzed in one circle among data collection, data reduction, visualization, and conclusion. This study shows that online learning is difficult to conduct because most mothers have low education, the internet is not a good connection, and mothers are difficult to divide their time both accompanying children and working at home. Mothers roles are to accompany and help their children to do homework, motivate, give learning happiness, guide their children, and divide the childrens time. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui masalah yang dihadapi ibu rumah tangga dalam mendampingi anaknya belajar dan untuk mengetahui peranan ibu rumah sebagai pendamping belajar anak di masa pandemi Covid-19. Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian dan juga teknik purposive sampling untuk penentuan subjek ibu rumah tangga dan anak. Peneliti menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data, kemudian dianalisis dalam bentuk lingkaran di antara pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, (1) ibu rumah tangga memiliki pendidikan rendah, koneksi internet yang tidak bagus, dan susah membagi waktu untuk menemani anak saat belajar daring dan mengurus pekerjaan rumah, dan (2) ibu rumah tangga berperan menemani dan membantu anaknya mengerjakan tugas, memotivasi, memberikan suasana nyaman, memberikan pemahaman pada materi yang dipelajari, dan membagi waktu anak untuk belajar dan bermain selama pandemi covid-19.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the social role of vegetable merchants in Oesao Market, East Kupang District in maintaining the existence of their children at school. The research method used was qualitative. The informants consisted of vegetable merchants and children who study at school in Oesao District. The data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation. This study showed several findings. First, the parents maintained their children at school by selling vegetables to meet their children's educational needs. Second, there were still many obstacles faced by parents in sending their children to school, especially the low economy. Third, the education fee was expensive, which was difficult for parents to send their children to school.
