Abstract

The purpose of this study is to empirically study the phenomena that occur related to learning strategies and locus of control by considering the variables of students' prior knowledge of learning outcomes. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih, North Sumatra during August to October 2016, and used experimental research methods. The number of subjects in this study each consisted of 40 students consisting of two treatment classes. While the data analysis technique used ANKOVA at a significance level of 0.05. The results obtained: (1) Indonesian language learning outcomes between groups of students taught with CTL learning strategies are higher than groups of students taught using expository strategies after controlling for initial knowledge, (2) Indonesian language learning outcomes among groups of students who have locus of internal control is higher than the group of students who have external locus of control after controlling for initial knowledge, (3) the effect of interaction between learning strategies and locus of control on Indonesian language learning outcomes after controlling for initial knowledge.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of professional competence, work This study aims to determine the effect of professional competence, work motivation, and academic optimism on the effectiveness of teacher performance at SMK Negeri Batu Bara Regency. This research was conducted at Batu Bara District Vocational Schools, spread throughout the Batu Bara District, North Sumatra Province, with a total sample of 127 people. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis techniques, namely validity, reliability, t-test, and F-test. The results showed that there was an influence of professional competence (X1), work motivation (X2), and academic optimism (X3) together on the effectiveness of teacher performance where the calculated F value is 69,692 and a significance (Sig.) 0.000. The magnitude of the influence is indicated by the coefficient of determination R2 (R square) = 63.0, which means that Professional Competence (X1), Work Motivation (X2), and Academic Optimism (X3) jointly influence the Effectiveness of Teacher Performance by 630%. The remainder, 37.0%, is determined by other factors. In conclusion, there is a significant influence between professional competence, work motivation, and academic optimism on teacher effectiveness. Abstract

Learning English, there are four language components, including: listening, reading, writing, and speaking, where these four components are the main factors in teaching English as a foreign language. These components will develop students' communication skills either orally or in writing. This research was conducted using classroom action research in 5 meetings. 1 initial meeting is used for the initial ability test, then 4 meetings are used for the learning process which consists of two cycles of learning in the classroom. The population in this study were all students of class X KI SMK Negeri 1 Air Putih, totaling 36 people, consisting of 28 female students and 8 male students. 9 students have relatively good ability in listening to English, 22 students have medium ability, and 5 students have less ability. The results of this study were 1) from the initial data, almost all students scored below the KKM, then in the first cycle it decreased to 8 students and in the second cycle, all students' scores were above the standards set at the school; 2) from the initial average of 48 it rose to 63 in cycle I and in cycle II it rose to 79; 3) from the initial data there were no students who passed while in the first cycle there were more, namely 4 students and in the second cycle all students achieved completeness.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of professional competence, motivation, and work climate on the work effectiveness of lecturers at STIE Bina Karya Tebing Tinggi. This research was conducted at STIE Bina Karya Tebing Tinggi with a total sample of 58 people. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis techniques, namely validity, reliability, t-tests, and F-tests, The results showed that there was an influence of professional competence on the effectiveness of lecturers' work, where a t-count value of 4.483 was obtained with a Sig value of 0.006 0.05, and the results of simple regression analysis show the regression equation  = 27.096 +.709X1, which means that every increase of one professional competency value will be followed by an increase in the value of the lecturer's work effectiveness of 0.709. There is an influence of work motivation on the effectiveness of lecturer work, where the t value obtained is 36.066 with a Sig value of 0.000 0.05, and the results of simple regression analysis show the regression equation  = 27,096 + 1,151 X2, which means that every increase of one value of motivation will be followed by an increase in lecturer work effectiveness of 1.151. There is an influence of the work climate on the effectiveness of the lecturer's work, where the t value obtained is 31.897 with the acquisition of a Sig value of 0.000 0.05, and the results of the simple regression analysis show the regression equation  = 27,096 + 1,025 X3, which means that every increase of one work climate value will be followed by an increase in the effectiveness of the lecturer's work of 1,025. There is an influence of professional competence (X1), motivation (X2), and work climate (X3) together on the effectiveness of lecturer work, where the calculated F value is 42.581 and the significance (Sig.) is 0.000. The magnitude of the influence is shown by the coefficient of determination R2 (R square) = 0.959, which means that professional competence (X1), motivation (X2), and work climate (X3) together have an influence on lecturer work effectiveness by 95.9%, and the remaining 4.1% is determined by other factors. The results of simple regression analysis show the equation  = 27.096 +.0.709 X1 + 1.151 X2 + 1.025 X3 + e.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran yang dapat menarik perhatian siswa adalah media audio visual. Adanya media dikalangan siswa dapat membantu untuk belajar secara mandiri. Media audio visual tidak hanya menjadi sarana untuk menyampaikan informasi secara lebih menarik, tetapi juga membuka peluang untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Artikel ini bertujuan agar pendidik dapat selalu menggunakan media audio visual dalam proses belajar mengajar. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan studi pustaka. Studi literatur adalah metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data atau sumber yang berkaitan dengan topik yang diangkat dalam suatu penelitian bukan dari pengamatan langsung, melainkan diperoleh dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti sebelumnya, berupa buku dan laporan ilmiah dalam bentuk artikel atau jurnal. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Dengan mendeskripsikan fakta-fakta yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan analisis, tidak sekedar mendeskripsikan, tetapi juga memberikan pemahaman dan penjelasan yang cukup. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa Penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis audio visual sangatlah penting dalam mendukung pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran baik luring maupun daring. Penggunaan media tersebut menumbuhkan motivasi siswa, siswa aktif dan antusias dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran.
