Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn.) is one of the natural sources that can be used to improve the appetizer of fish and thus improve the growth of that fish. Research aiming to understand the growth and survival of C.carpio fed with turmeric-enriched pellets was conducted from March to May 2022. There were 4 different dosages of turmeric powder applied, namely T0 (Control), T1 (0.5 g/kg), T2 (1 g/kg), and T3 (1,5 g/kg). The fish was reared in a 25 L container completed with an aerator and filter. The density of fish was 15 fishes/container, around 3 g BW and 6 cm TL. The fish was fed ad-satiation, 3 times/day and was reared for 49 days. Sampling was conducted once a week. Results showed that the survival rate of fish in all treatments was good, more than 95 %. The best growth was obtained in T3, as the fish achieved 6.29 g BW and 7.61 cm TL. While the fish of other treatments were lower, they were T0 (4.60 g; 6.72 cm), T1 (4.73 g; 6.85 cm), and T2 (4.99 g; 7.03 cm). The best FCR was also found in T3 (1.37) and the FCR of other treatments were T0 (2.28), T1 (2.10), and T2 (1.97) respectively. Data obtained indicate that the addition of turmeric powder improves the growth as well as the FCR of C.carpio

Abstract

Diseases and pest outbreaks in fish have until now become the main obstacle factors in increasing aquaculture production, both intensively and extensively. Fish disease causes huge economic losses for the community, especially farmers, one of the commodities is tiger grouper (Ephinepehelus fuscoguttatus). Some obstacles in grouper farming include the high mortality rate. Disease is an inhibiting factor in grouper farming. The purpose of this study was to examine what parasites infect tiger grouper (Ephinepehelus fuscoguttatus). This research was conducted in the Floating Net Cage (KJA) of Tapian Nauli I Village, Central Tapanuli Regency in November 2022 using the survey method. Then direct observation of parasites at the Fish Health Laboratory of the College of Fisheries and Marine Matauli. The results of parasite examination on tiger grouper (Ephinepehelus fuscoguttatus) in Floating Net Cages (KJA) in Tapian Nauli I Village Waters, Central Tapanuli Regency were the discovery of parasites of Diplectanum sp, Haliotrema sp, parasite eggs, Benedenia sp, Vorticella sp, and Attheyella sp.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this community service is to increase the local community's insight into cultural heritage so that they can help preserve and protect it, instill cultural values in young people to love and be proud of their culture and encourage stakeholders to explore, develop and preserve local culture for the sustainable advancement of Indonesian culture. This community service is carried out to the form of workshop activities involving local communities and the Regional Goverment. In this workshop, the source person explains the material directly and then explores it in a discussion/question forum. The results of this community service show that the local community knows the essence of strengthening and preserving traditional specialties as valuable cultural heritage. The local community is quite aware that kinobo as a regional specialty food has opportunities for development that can be packaged into an economical product typical of the region as has been successfully done by other regions. This is a strategic step to encourage the cultural resilience of local communities and ensure the existence of traditional specialties amidst technological advances, increasingly modern community life and the rise of foreign cultures that can intervene in local culture.
