Abstract

Kata kunci: Olahraga pernapasan, gejala asma, asma.ABSTRACTAsthma is an uncurable  but controllable disease. Asthma can be controlled with comprehensive management, not only by giving farmacologic therapy i.e. antiinflamation drugs  but also  use non farmacology therapy i.e. controlling asthma symptoms. The sample was 7 people with sampling technique used purposive sampling according to research inclusion criterion. The study was conducted between 7th June and 5th July 2009. The respiratory exercise in the study was regularly implemented for 120 minutes each session and 2-3 times weekly for a month. It was implemented weekly and monthly observation of asthma symptom for all respondents pre and post respiratory exercise. According to the result of data analysis with paired t-test show the difference monthly and weekly asthma symptom pre and post respiratory exercise. Abstract

Using Nigella sativa oil for skin care is a nursing measure to maintain skin integrity to prevent further tissue damage. The oil contains thymoquinone (27.8%-57%), which has been tested to heal a wound, acting as a potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Linoleic acid (57.9%) and linolenic acid (0.2%) act as cell-forming substances and helping to moisturize the skin. This study aims to discover the effect of Nigella sativa oil, which is applied to prolonged bedridden patients with the risk of decubitus. This study used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. Random sampling was used to acquire 34 people as samples by using the probability sampling technique. This study also used paired sample test as a research analysis. The result showed a significant effect using Nigella sativa oil for skin care with a p-value = 0.000 (p<0.05).

Abstract

Asthma is a disease caused by disorders in the respiratory tract due to allergies or genetics. It cannot be cured, but it can be controlled. With medical treatment and proper self-management, asthma patients can achieve a good asthma symptoms control level. One of the factors affecting asthma control is knowledge about asthma. This study aims to determine the correlation between knowledge of asthma and asthma symptoms control level at Medan Pulmonology Hospital. This research uses a descriptive correlation research design. Seventy-three respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. They are the asthma patients in the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of Medan Pulmonology Hospital. This research also used questionnaires of knowledge and asthma symptoms control; then, the results were analyzed. The study results indicated that most asthmatic patients were categorized as having less level knowledge of asthma with 38 respondents (52.1%). In addition, most asthma patients have uncontrolled asthma type with 37 respondents (50.7%). This shows that there is a correlation between level knowledge of asthma and asthma symptoms control level with p = 0.034. Furthermore, Nurses can use this study to provide nursing care and control asthma symptoms to asthmatic patients.

Abstract

One of the non-pharmacological treatment of fever in children is shallot compresses. This study aims to determine the effect of shallot compresses on decreasing body temperature in children with fever. This research used a quasi-experimental one group pre-posttest design and used simple random sampling as the sampling technique. A digital thermometer and observation sheet were used as the research instruments. The research took the data of children's temperature 2 times (pretest, posttest 15 minutes). The sample of this study was 20 children aged 3-6 years old. This study uses the normality test with Shapiro-Wilk and parametric statistical analysis of the Paired Test. The results showed that most child's temperature before being treated with shallot compress was 37.8ºC (25%) and most of the child's temperature after being treated with shallot compress was 37.0ºC (30%). A significant value of 0.000 (˂0.05) means that there is a difference in body temperature before and after the shallot compress. Based on the results, shallot compresses can reduce children's body temperature when they have a fever. It can be used as early treatment for children with fever.
