Abstract

The formulation of the problem that will be answered in this article is how do the leaders and managers of MA Nurul Qur'an respond and answer future challenges through curriculum innovations and educational programs held? This study uses qualitative methods, with 7 respondents, namely; the leader of the pesantren (kyai), the head of the MA, the deputy head of the curriculum, the teacher, and 3 students. Data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and verification or concluding. The discussion in this article concludes, that as a pesantren-based madrasa, the manager of MA Nurul Qur'an is committed to educating students (Santri) so that they can grow into the Upper Middle Class through three alumni profiles, becoming: Kyai, Priyai, and Entrepreneur. The three profiles are a top priority considering that future challenges for alumni will be more complex and require skills and specialization in certain areas of expertise. To encourage the creation of graduates with three alumni profiles, MA Nurul Qur'an made many modifications and developments to the curriculum based on Islamic boarding school values while also emphasizing the strengthening of foreign languages. Academically, this article contributes to providing an argument that the values of idealism and pragmatism can be combined as the basis for the development of Islamic educational institutions. While practically, this article contributes to providing an example for academics and education practitioners, regarding how the madrasa curriculum model is designed to accommodate the interests of idealism and pragmatism.

Abstract

Abstract: Strategy for Development of the Bali Bina Insani Islamic Boarding School in the Middle of a Multicultural SocietyThis observe especially goals to explain the heritage of the established order of the Bali Bina Insani Islamic boarding school, as well as to provide an explanation for the efforts and strategies for developing the Bali Bina Insani Islamic boarding school in developing its Islamic education and maintaining its existence in a multicultural society. The studies method used on this study is a qualitative studies method with a case examine approach. Facts series techniques had been performed via interviews, observations, and documentation which were then examined the use of the triangulation approach and analyzed using the concept of Miles & Hubarman inside the form of facts reduction, facts presentation, conclusion drawing, and records verification. The consequences of the examine suggest that the tolerance created on the Bali Bina Insani Islamic boarding school is very strong so that it can become a special strategy in developing education at the Bali Bina Insani Islamic boarding school and is capable of be an effort to hold the existence of Islamic boarding schools that stand within the midst of a multicultural society with the general public being Hindu. Abstrak: Strategi Pengembangan Pesantren Bali Bina Insani di Tengah Masyarakat MultikulturalPenelitian ini secara spesifik bertujuan menjelaskan latar belakang berdirinya Pesantren Bali Bina Insani dan menjelasakan bagaimana upaya serta strategi pengembangan Pesantren Bali Bina Insani dalam menyebarkan pendidikan Islamnya serta mempertahankan eksistensinya di tengah rakyat multikultural. Penelitian ini memakai metode penelitian kualitatif melalui pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tanya jawab, pengamatan di lapangan, serta dokumentasi yang kemudian diuji melalui metode triangulasi dan dianalisis memakai teorinya Miles & Huberman yang berupa reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan konklusi, serta pembuktian data. Sehingga penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa toleransi pada Pesantren Bali Bina Insani sangat kuat sehingga bisa menjadi taktik khusus pada pengembangan pendidikan Islam Pesantren Bali Bina Insani serta bisa sebagai upaya mempertahankan keberadaan (eksistensi) pondok pesantren yang berdiri di tengah warga multikultural yang dominan beragama Hindu.

Abstract

Theoretically, the culture that is still running in a group is a sign that cultural actors still play a role in the midst of society. In this context, cultural moral values and actions should also color the cultural group. It is different in Panyabungan, although Panyabungan is known as a district that is thick with nuances of customs, some of the people in Panyabungan do not describe a community with character in accordance with local cultural values and moral actions. This article was written in order to see how hatobangon's role in guiding the character of the community in Panyabungan. The research method used in this article is filed research with a descriptive-qualitative approach then the data is analyzed reductively. The results of this study found that hatobangon in guiding the character of the community in Panyabungan was only limited through traditional ceremonial containers. Meanwhile, in revitalizing customary values, hatobangon only socializes customary values in the community in their daily associations. In conclusion, hatobangon in its role in guiding the character of indigenous peoples in Panyabungan needs wider space for movement and government involvement.
