Abstract

The aim of this study is to developed a science teaching material for students on junior high school. The theme of this material are the earthquake phenomenon as the main subject are displayed integratedly into various concepts of science knowledge such as earth science, physics, biology and technology. This study is Research and Development study that developing teaching materials by using The Four Step Teaching Materials Development. The four steps on developing a teaching material which are selection, structurisation, characterization, and didactic reduction process. The final product of this steps is hand out wich titled “Belajar Sains Melalui Fenomena Gempa Bumi (Learning Science through the earth quake phenomenon)”. Then, the teaching materials is tested to get information about concepts indentification, eligibility, and student’s understanding. This study showed that most of the concepts on this teaching material are quite easy with the correct written main ideas above 75% and the students understanding toward this hand out are falls on good category.  Beside that, this hand out are  validated in four aspects, which are content, material presentment, language & grammar, and grafis.The result stated that the hand out is feasible for use in learning.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar materi ilmu pengetahuan alam bagi siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Bahan ajar ini mengangkat tema fenomena bencana gempa bumi sebagai pokok pembahasan utama yang mengintegrasikan  ilmu kebumian, fisika, biologi dan teknologi. Penelitian ini merupakan bagian dari Research and Development, yaitu mengembangkan bahan ajar menggunakan metode Four Step Teaching Materials Development (4STMD). 4STMD memiliki empat tahapan pengembangan bahan ajar, yaitu proses seleksi, proses strukturisasi, proses karakterisasi, dan proses reduksi didaktis. Produk akhir dari pengolahan bahan ajar ini berjudul “Belajar Sains Melalui Fenomena Gempa Bumi”. Pengujian terhadap bahan ajar dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi konsep sulit, menilai kelayakan bahan ajar, dan keterpahaman siswa terhadap bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar konsep-konsep materi yang terdapat pada bahan ajar tergolong konsep mudah, dengan persentase penulisan ide pokok benar diatas 75% dan kualifikasi pemahaman siswa terhadap bahan ajar dikategorikan baik. Hasil penilaian kelayakan bahan ajar dinyatakan bahwa bahan ajar ini layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze implementation of inquiry instruction for improving concept mapping skill. The subject of the research was student on grade 10 in islamic senior high school in subang district. Method of research used was quasy experiment with matching control group pretest-posttest design. Instruments used in this research were test and concept map about electricity. The treatment of experiment group was the combination of virtual-real experiment and virtual experiment, while control group was only real experiment method. The result of analyzing data showed that the average of normalized gain <g> was in low criteria. Significant test of three averages normalized gain using analysis of varians (anova) showed that virtual-real experiment method was more significant in improving mapping concept skill than those virtual experiment and real experiment only.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan pembelajaran inkuiri dalam meningkatkan ketrampilan membuat peta konsep. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas X pada salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas Islam Terpadu di Kabupaten Subang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasy experiment dengan desain penelitian matching control group pretest-posttest. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dan peta konsep mengenai kelistrikan. Kelas eksperimen dalam penelitian ini memperoleh perlakuan kombinasi metode eksperimen nyata-virtual dan virtual saja, sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh perlakuan metode eksperimen nyata saja. Hasil perhitungan rataan gain <g> yang ternormalisasi menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan membuat peta konsep berada pada kriteria rendah. Hasil uji signifikansi ketiga rataan <g> menggunakan analysis of varians (ANOVA) menunjukkan bahwa metode eksperimen nyata-virtual lebih signifikan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membuat peta konsep dibandingkan dengan metode eksperimen virtual saja dan nyata saja.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a STEM-based virtual lab as an alternative media in improving scientific literacy of junior high school students on the theme of water pollution. Development is done by using 4D methods: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. After the implementation was done, it’s effectiveness in increasing scientific literacy was examined using one group pretest-posttest design.  At the define stage problems from PISA  2012, KDs, and STEM characteristics were analyzed. Design of flowcharts, storyboards, and user interface were done on design phase. Phases of develop includes the creation of virtual labs and validation by media expert and a science teacher. Phases of disseminate this research is to implement limited to two classes of junior high school students. The results from media expert validation and science teachers validates that STEM-based virtual labs that have been developed shows very decent used in the feasibility study by percentage according to media expert at 86.24% and 82.71% according to science teacher. The results show that the implementation of the STEM-based virtual lab that has been developed can improve scientific literacy of students with a large increase (N-gain) in the class 7B of 0.46 which falls in to medium category and class 7D of 0.29 with medium category.

Abstract

Learning Management System Supported Smartphone (LMS3) is a new and innovative application in online physics learning synchronously. The research aims to investigate the level of students’ satisfaction in using LMS3 and determine predictor variables that affect the level of students’ satisfaction. A descriptive study with survey method was implemented to 71 physics education students who attended online physics learning. The instrument in this research was a Students’ Satisfaction of LMS3 Questionnaire (S2LMS3Q). The average percentage determined the level of student’s satisfaction, and multiple correlations and multiple regressions determined the predictor variables. The level of satisfaction in using LMS3 reached a high level with an average of 76.03%. At the 0.01 significance level, the adjusted R2 value of four predictor variables was 0.393. The multiple correlation analysis showed β for each predictor variable were 0.34 for gender, 0.07 for age, 0.43 for experience in using LMS, and 0.13 for internet connection. In conclusion, the level of students’ satisfaction was high, and the most influential predictor variables were the experience in using LMS and age. This study suggests an in-depth evaluation of online learning through students’ perceptions in order to improve the quality of further learning.
