Abstract

Bimbingan belajar atau bimbel sangatlah dianjurkan pada anak. Selain membantu proses belajar dengan baik juga membantu mendapatkan tambahan ilmu yang belum pernah mereka pelajari sebelumnya. Seperti bimbingan belajar  atau bimbel yang terjadi di SD Negeri 12 Kelurahan Tanjung Mulia ini, dimana siswa yang cenderung tidak menyukai atau tertarik pada bahasa inggris. Namun dengan mengikuti bimbingan belajar atau bimbel serta edukasi akan pentingnya bahasa inggris bagi mereka yang dilaksankan oleh salah satu mahasiswa KKN sebagai program kegiatan dalam bidang keilmuan membuat anak atau siswa lebih bisa mencerna materi dengan baik melalui proses pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan tidak terlihat kaku serta teknik pengajaran yang memang memfokuskan siswa untuk belajar bahasa inggris. Selain itu, menerapkan teknolohi dalam pembelajaran akan lebih efektif dan mudah dalam menyampaikan materi. Seperti Power Point atau tayangan video dari youtube bisa membuat perhatian anak tertuju pada pelajaran.  Perkembangan yang terlihat sangat signifikan hanya dalam jangka waktu satu bulan pelaksanaan bimbingan belajar tersebut. Penulisan serta penyebutan kata dan kalimat bahasa inggris yang diajarkan pada siswa memiliki hasil yang memuaskan dimana siswa bisa mempelajari materi dengan baik. Abstract

Test items or questions play an important role as a tool to measure the students’ ability in a process, like the process of education and learning. The objectives of this research are to find out the kinds of higher order thinking skill used by English teachers and to find out the dominant kinds of higher order thinking skill used by English teachers in designing test items at SMAN Argamakmur. This study used descriptive study which tries to potrait the use of Higher Order Thinking Skills in designing test items. This research used test items designed by English teachers in SMAN Argamakmur. The researcher asked permission to the teachers to copy the latest test items. The instruments of this research was observation checklist. In collecting the data, the researcher used the composition of higher order tinking skills. The data was collected based on the reading task on the test items designed by English teachers. There were two conclusions of this research; firts, the kinds of higher order thinking skill used by English teachers in designing test items at SMAN Argamakmur were analyzing, evaluating, and creating. Second, the dominant kind of higher order thinking skill used by English teachers in designing test items at SMAN Argamakmur was analyzing. Keywords : Higher Order Thinking Skills, Test Items

Abstract

The objective of this study was to figure out whether there is any correlation between students’ motivation and English learning achievement at Grade XI Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kota Bengkulu. In this research, the researcher used Correlational research in a quantitative design. In correlational method, the researcher used the correlation statistical test to describe and measure between two variables. The population of this study was the whole students of XI grade MAN 1 Bengkulu City with total students 355. The researcher took all of population as the sample of the research. Therefore, the sample of this research was about 350 students at eleventh grade MAN Model Bengkulu. To obtain the data, the researcher used questionnaire and documentation as the instruments of this research. The questionnaire of students’ motivation was adopted from The Attitude / Motivation Test Battery by R. C Gardner cited in (Rafasah, 2019). Moreover, the students’ learning achievement was identified by collecting the students’ English score in UTS or UAS or daily test. After collecting and analyzing the data, the researcher found that the sign. (2-tailed) Pearson correlation = 0.00 > 0.05 which means that there was a correlation between students’ motivation and English learning achievement at XI A students of SMAN 1 Kota Bengkulu. The researcher suggested for English teachers in developing some strategies to facilitate the students to have a good motivation. The researcher also suggested for the students to be more active in practicing English even though this research findings showed that the students’ motivation was good. Abstract

Nowadays, teaching media is developed well in many kinds especially for English listening skill. Listening is the first communication skill human acquired. It is an important process which has vital role in the daily activity. The example of teaching media to be used in listening class is English Movie. The researcher conducted watching English movie activity in the class and he realize that the teaching media is interesting to be used because students are easy to get bored when they have listening activity without visual media. Then, he wants to know the students’ perception about the use of this method, The objective of the research was to find out the Effect of Audio Lingual Method (ALM) In Mandalorian Movies On Listening Ability and it was using quantitative experimental research. The population of this research was the students in SMA 12 Bengkulu Utara. It takes 60 students consisted of 30 as experimental and 30 as a control class. The result of t-test value of the post test was greater than t-table value (116,0>2.042). The hypothesis testing above showed that the listening comprehension scores of the students in experimental group had a significant difference after the use ALM (Audio Lingual Method) in Mandalorian movies, strategy was done in compared to the control’s group achievement who did not receive the ALM (Audio Lingual Method) in Mandalorian movies as on the experimental group, it showed Audio Lingual Method (ALM) In Mandalorian Movies On Listening Ability was effective to be used to improved students’ ability in listening. By using this strategy, it maybe improves students to learn proper English by using a movie as a learning method so the student can enjoy studying a English by watching a movie. Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of teaching English of EYL Course in SDN 07 Kota Bengkulu. It was designed as a qualitative research in which the data were obtained via interview and documentation. The data were also analyzed by applying main indicators and criteria in measuring teaching effectiveness. On the one hand, the indicators were consisted of mastery learning, student learning activity, management ability, and student responses. On the other hand, the criteria comprised time allocation and student motivation. The results indicated that the apprentice teacher of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu mastered in delivering lesson materials. Then, the students showed the different attitudes during attending the class of EYL. Some of whom were active and some tended to be passive. However, management skill of the apprentice teacher was not called to be well-structured yet. It was also observed from their ability to allocate time in delivering lesson materials of EYL. Additionally, motivation of the students mostly came from their perspective about English. Most of whom considered having skill in speaking English was very cool. In conclusion, teaching EYL in SDN 07 Kota Bengkulu is effective to conduct because both indicators and criteria have tendency to be positive, even though ability of the apprentice teachers are still not professional yet.Key Words: Effectiveness, EYL Course, Elementary School.

Abstract

This study was to investigate students' perceptions of ChatGPT on writing skill in English Study Program of Muhammadiyah University. The purpose of this study was to find out the perceptions of students of English education program in ChatGPT for writing skill. This research is a qualitative descriptive method. In this study, researchers used questionnaires and interviews in obtaining data. The subjects of this study were fourth semester and sixth semester students who attended writing classes. The result of this study shows that the use of ChatGPT in the fourth and sixth semester of Language Education Study Program has been utilized well. As a result, the researcher was able to make a strong classification of the data collected, suggesting that students see the use of ChatGPT as an aid in the process of improving writing skills although there are still students who do not give a positive response to ChatGPT but overall the results of the research and discussion show that students give a good response to ChatGPT during the learning process. They showed positive responses to the ease of use of ChatGPT, increased knowledge, satisfaction with the speed and accuracy of ChatGPT responses, more efficient use of time, and increased engagement.
