Abstract

This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Pliek U ethanol extract cream against Staphylococcus aureus. The method was an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) on five treatments, namely positive control, negative control, F1, F2, and F3, each with four repetitions. Antibacterial testing was carried out using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that the average diameters of F1, F2 and F3 were 12.65 mm, 14.9 mm and 12.92 mm, which were included in the solid antibacterial category in inhibiting the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Pliek U can be formulated as a cream preparation, meets the requirements for quality tests for cream preparations and has met SNI standard parameters. In conclusion, Pliek U ethanol extract cream has antibacterial activity with the most optimum effectiveness at a concentration of 5%. Keywords: Antibacterial, Cream, Pliek U, Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Wuluh starfruit in Aceh commonly called "Boh Limeung" is a plant that is very often encountered, because star fruit is one of the spices in cooking. The Acehnese use star fruit as "SUNTI ACID", which is star fruit that is dried and then salted and used as a spice in cooking. The chemical compounds in star fruit leaves are flavonoids, saponins, sulfur, formic acid, steroid peroxides and tannins which are able to inhibit microbial activity and damage cell membranes so that, they can inhibit bacterial growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of starfruit leaves (Averrhoal bilimbi L.) as antifungal candida albicans. The method used in this research is experimental laboratory. The treatments given in this study were 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% methanol extract concentrations. Then for the positive control (+), ketoconazole was used and for the negative control (-) aquadest was used. Based on the results obtained from the methanol extract of starfruit leaves (Averrhoal bilimbi L.) at concentrations of 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, the average inhibition zone values were 17.5 mm, 17.35 mm, 17.95. mm, 18.77 mm. In Table 4.2, it can be seen that the largest inhibition zone is in the positive control (+) which is 23.5 mm while the negative control (-) is 0 mm.

Abstract

Kuala Langsa is a mangrove tourist area located in Langsa City, Aceh Province. Currently, the Kuala Langsa Mangrove Forest tour is a tourist spot that is of interest to the public. However, tourists and snack traders are not disciplined towards the behavior of protecting the environment. This community service (PKM) activity aimed to reduce the littering behavior or activities of the community. Partners in this PKM activity were snack traders and mangrove tourists. The implementation of this activity was carried out in three stages, namely: first stage, the team prepared permits from the village head; the second stage, the team prepared material requirements for carrying out activities such as leaflets or brochures, organic and non-organic waste bins, then carried out outreach and education to snack traders and tourists; and the third stage, namely the evaluation stage. The result of implementing this community service activity was the foster of sense of community concern for the preservation of mangrove forest tourism areas, namely by providing socialization and education. Changes in the behavior or activities of the hawker traders, it can be seen that the traders have collected the trade waste and disposed of it in a landfill.

Abstract

Hydroponic system technology is a method of farming using planting media other than soil, such as pumice, gravel, sand, coconut fiber, pieces of wood or foam. This is done because the function of soil as a support for plant roots and as an intermediary for nutrient solutions can be replaced by flowing or adding nutrients, water and oxygen through this medium. The aim of this community service activity was to provide science and technology to the housewives of Gampong Alue Beurawe regarding the hydroponic system as a solution to the limited agricultural land in Gampong Alue Beurawe. Then, the results of the cultivated vegetables using this hydroponic system can be marketed and become a source of income for partners. The implementation of this activity was carried out in several stages, namely: 1) observation and legalization, 2) implementation of training, 3) practice of cultivating plants using a hydroponic system, and 4) evaluation. From the results of implementing this activity, the target partner has a series of household scale hydroponic systems as a business. Apart from that, target partners also have knowledge and skills in farming using a hydroponic system. The resulting hydroponic plant harvest have been marketed and become income for partners. This activity is expected to be an opportunity for new entrepreneurial partners who will join the business group in the future to keep up with current developments, so that they are able to compete in this globalized world.
