Abstract

An affective assessment of critical reasoning ability as a complex process involving data receiving-mastering, data analysis, and data evaluation, should be taught to students as the ability is vital in day-to-day life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the affective assessment of critical reasoning ability in terms of the gender of students in a Senior High School, SMAN 5, situated in Yogyakarta. The method used in this study is quantitative research. The subject involves 132 students at the 11th grade focusing on science and mathematics. Then, the independent t-test is utilized to analyze the data. The result indicated that the independent t-test obtained a significance value of 0.206 > 0.05, the mean of critical reasoning ability for female, 3.205, was greater than the male (3.085). However, it was considered insignificant as the gap was 1.120. The critical reasoning indicators such as searching for information, assessing, making conclusion, and making decision describe no significant difference based on gender. For further research, other factors can be analyzed in order to provide more implications for teachers in improving critical reasoning skills.

Abstract

Children or infants under five years who are below the standard height or shorter than children their age are referred to as stunting. Stunting is caused by inadequate nutritional intake for a long time, resulting in impaired physical growth in children. In general, the province of Southeast Sulawesi has a stunting prevalence of 31.4%, while the city of Kendari is 28.6%7. These figures are still above the target of the World Health Organization (WHO), which is below 20%. The high rate of stunting is generally caused by limited knowledge of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Various unhealthy eating cultures are still developing and practiced by certain ethnic groups in society. Improving a healthy lifestyle and preventing stunting through a socio-cultural approach is a very important issue. This paper is the result of community service related to efforts to prevent stunting in children through a socio-cultural approach. This service is performed through counseling in Kelurahan Pondambea, Kendari City. The counseling was carried out together with partners from the puskesmas Merkar, Kendari City. The results of this service show that knowledge about healthy lifestyles for some people is still limited. The unhealthy eating culture is still practiced in several ethnic groups living in Kelurahan Pondambea, Kendari City. Therefore, a socio-cultural approach is still needed to provide education to the community.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal congregational activities during the implementation of restrictions on community activities from August to October 2021. There is an impression that the stricter the regulation of activities in places of worship, the stronger the community's desire to perform worship in their worship places, including other social religious activities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method through an ethnographic approach. Observations were made in several places of worship. Informants were chosen deliberately, namely people who are considered to understand the problem under study. The theory used is Bourdie's power which explains that any social phenomena including religious congregations in carrying out their activities are individual actions. They still hold worship, even though they have been given an appeal in the form of strict regulations. The results of the study show that congregations are already aware of the dangers of Covid-19, but at the same time they cannot be separated from activities in places of worship because it is a habit since childhood and has been passed down from generation to generation. In the context of fighting Covid-19, religious leaders agree more with the term peace with Covid-19. This means continuing to worship in places of worship, but being aware of strict health protocols is the main key for every individual.
