Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the cruel nature and ambition of the two daughters of King Lear (Goneril and Regan) King Lear is one of the works of Author William Shakespeare's, a famous story during the time of Queen Elizabeth II. This research is categorized as qualitative research because the data collected from several articles, journals, searches from the internet. And in analyzing the data the writer uses a psychological approach because this includes human behavior, both individuals and groups who do harmful behavior and even benefit themselves, ethnicity, nation, society, government, religion, or organization. So, this drama explains how their actions have affected the lives of those around them, even physically and mentally damaging King Lear, even themselves. This triggers the ambition to move forward to get desires and desires that result in destruction, even death, so that the lives of brothers and sisters finally break apart, conflicts occur because of the ambition to have power and get love so that one by one die, without justice.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out whether or not students' reading comprehension of narrative texts might be enhanced by using the reading aloud strategy. The Reading Aloud Strategy is a reading exercise that uses a loud voice reading style to help kids concentrate and pay attention. 20 students from the VII grade at SMP Negeri 1 Eris made up the sample for this quantitative study. The researcher employed a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. Multiple-choice examinations, true-false quizzes, and essays served as the research tools in this study. Using the average score algorithm, the research's data were statistically analyzed. The data calculated using the students' pre-test results was 49, and the test was 78 after. Between the pre-test and post-test, there was a 29 point change in the pupils' scores. According to the study's findings, the pre-average test's score was lower than the post-average test's score. The researcher draws the conclusion that the reading aloud strategy works well to increase pupils' reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research raises the deconstruction of patriarchal power over women, social, race and education in the novels. The researcher examines this matter with the aims of uncovering and describing gender issues in this study based on the existence of women who feel oppressed trying to fight for their rights. In this study, the researcher compares the same situation between the two main characters in these two novels which is described using a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources in this research are the novels Bekisar Merah and The Color Purple. The data were obtained by reading, taking notes, and coded each sentence related to the research data. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the Feminist Intersectional theory to examine in depth the oppression of women from all aspects. The results of this study indicate that there is discrimination experienced by the two main characters in the novel, discrimination in terms of gender, family, society, race and education. Marginalization is also felt by these two characters due to differences in Gender, Race, and Family backgrounds that give rise to marginalization, the existence of dominance from the other party towards one of the sexes can be marginalized, in addition, the injustice has to do with the subordination, stereotypes, and violence experienced by the female characters in the novel. However, the form of gender equality in this case is the need for mutual respect between men and women, women as equal partners of men are more precisely as mentors and equal partners.

Abstract

This study aims is to reveal the portrait of the upperclass society in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. This study classifies as qualitative descriptive because the data collected in the form of words as well as quotation from the sources. Research finding shows that the upper class life style concist of having great wealth, having party, and showing their property. Their life style proved that in Jane Austen’s novel the description of upper class life style are existed and described clearly

Abstract

The goal of this study was to employ Digital Storytelling to help ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tondano enhance their listening skills. Pre-experimental research with a quantitative approach and a one group pretest posttest design were used to collect data for this study from the students' hearing exams. This study's sample included 21 pupils from SMP Negeri 1 Tondano. The post-test outperformed the pre-test. The mean post-test value is = 8 9.05, and the standard deviation is = 93.5. The mean value of the pre test is 71.7, and the standard deviation is 75.25. Because the post-test findings outperform the pre-test results, it can be inferred that employing digital storytelling is helpful for developing the listening skills of ninth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tondano. Suggestions include teachers paying greater attention to how to educate students properly, so that students are readily engaged in learning and listening to English through the use of media or technologies.
