Abstract

Library collaboration originally involved collaboration between 2 (two) libraries or more regardless of whether the collaboration used computer assistance or telecommunications facilities or not. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Qualitative method is a type of research that aims to comprehensively understand the phenomena experienced by the object of research, such as behavior, perceptions, motivations, actions, etc., through a special natural context. through specific natural contexts, and descriptions in scientific language and methods. This research concludes that collaboration between UMA and UNIMED libraries is the right and strategic thing to advance the library between the two. This collaboration aims to improve institutional relations between the two parties in carrying out educational, research and community service activities, library development, and other matters that have been mutually agreed upon. Abstract

Information seeking behavior and information needs are carried out by everyone to fulfill the knowledge they want, including students. Before searching for information students must first know what information they need, such as making a list of information to be searched for, then after making a list of information to be sought, the behavior when searching for information is to start browsing or where to look for that information, after being sure of the source of the information being sought. then students must verify and sort out the information to be retrieved. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method to describe the characteristics of the cases studied. Sulistyo-Basuki (2006: 78) explains that qualitative research aims to obtain a complete picture of a matter from the point of view of the human being studied. In fulfilling the needs of different information, students will do any way to get the information according to their needs. To get the information that suits their needs, UINSU students don't just use one source of information to get the information they need. Abstract

This article discusses the provision of a collection of library materials for children at the Medan City Library. This article describes the description of planning activities and the method of procuring a collection of children's library materials at the Medan City Library. This research was carried out using a qualitative method with unstructured interviews. The conclusion of this mini research is to work on materials for children's collections that are not yet owned by the Medan City Library and add materials that are already owned by the Medan City Library in relatively small quantities, while the planning steps taken are Inventory of library materials, Analysis the need for children's library materials, determine preotitas. In addition, several methods of procuring library materials are carried out in the following ways: buyers, gifts, exchanges, donations, collaboration, endowments and self-publishing.
