Abstract

Water logging is a condition where water can concentrate at one location. This condition can cause changes in soil chemical properties and inhibiting the growth of pineapple plant of PT. Great Giant Pineapple. The purposes of this study were to understand the influence of soil water level on the change in soil chemical properties in different soils iron content, and the influence of soil water level on plant growth as well as iron and phosphorus absorption in plants. This study used factorial completely randomized design with 30 treatment combinations. The treatments included soil with 100% water available, 0 cm from soil surface, 10 cm from soil surface, 20 cm from soil surface, 30 cm from soil surface, 12.76 ppm iron concentration and 30.15 ppm iron concentration. The The results showed that the water level was significantly different on pH, Fe, exchangeable Al, exchangeable H, and Eh in soil iron and not significantly different on Mn, P and pineapple plant growth in 6 weeks of waterlogged. The soil water content did not significantly change soil pH . Therefore, the response to pineapple plant growth was not significantly different. The best treatment for water logging was 30 cm of water logging from surface

Abstract

Iron toxicity is a widespread nutrient disorder in lowland crop production, notably in lowland acid soils, swampy lands, coastal swamps and irrigated lowlands of Ultisols and Oxisols. It occurs only in flooded soils when the soil contains excessive amounts of iron. This excessive iron in soil has antagonistic effects on the uptake of many essential nutrients, poor growth and consequently yields reduction. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of different iron concentrations on growth characteristics and nutrient uptake of three pineapple clones (Ananas comosus L. Merr.). The experiment was held in a greenhouse of Research and Development Department of Great Giant Pineapple Company on December 2014 until March 2015. A randomize complete factorial design with two factors and four replications were used in this study. The first factor was pineapple clones (GP1, GP3, and F180) and second factor was iron concentration. Different amounts of iron as second factor 5 (control), 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 mg L-1 FeEDTA were added in the nutrient solution. The results showed that increase iron concentration was added in nutrient solution was reduced root length, number of roots, plant height, leaf area, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight significantly at p<0,05. Nutrient solution pH also decreased significantly with increasing concentration of iron in nutrient solution. Increased iron concentration in nutrient solution induced iron plaque formation on root surface and at the same time, Fe concentration on root tissues increased. However, higher iron concentration on nutrient solution results lower accumulation Mn in the roots. Excess iron had the same effect in reducing the absorption of P, K, and Ca on pineapple shoot. Whereas Fe and Mn uptake increased with increasing iron were added in nutrient solution. However, Mg absorption was not affected by the increase in the concentration of iron in the solution.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of mycorrhiza based biofertilizer on the availability of P on acid soils and pineapple plant growth. The research was conducted in green hause owned by PT. Great Giant Pineapple, Central Lampung District. The treatments were four doses of Rhizagold biological fertilizer (10, 30, 50, and 70 g / seeds), and 1 control (without Rhizagold biological fertilizer). Five treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replications. Observations were done destructively five times to produce 75 units of experiments. The results showed that the application of mycorrhizal based biochemical fertilizers did not give significant effect on all pineapple plant growth parameters and did not give significant effect on soil pH parameter, P-total, only gave significant effect on P-available. A dose of 30 g seedlings-1 showed the best dose to increase P availability on soil.
