Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of Illocutionary acts used by the characters in the movie Imperfect. This research applies qualitative descriptive method. The writer uses 65 speech acts samples from this movie and chooses them randomly to analyze the types of Illocutionary acts in this movie. It is found that there are five types of Illocutionary acts used in the movie Imperfect, namely: Representative, Directive, Commissive, Expressive, and Declarative. The total Illocutionary acts are about 157 utterances. Representative has 47 utterances, directive has 66 utterances, commissive has 4 utterances, expressive has 39 utterances, and declarative has 1 utterance. Keywords: illocutionary acts, movie

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the maintenance of the Karo language in Tiga Juhar. This study uses qualitative research, especially case studies. The subjects studied were 2 people; 1 is Christian and 1 is Muslim. Subjects were chosen specifically because they had to meet the criteria for having children, being able to speak their own tribal language fluently. Data were obtained by using interviews and observation. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman method, namely data reduction, data classification, verification, and conclusion. In data analysis, it was found that a. Four factors that influence language defense are attitude, values and identity factors, social factors, religious factors, and demographic factors. b. There are two ways to maintain the language, namely creating an environment that integrates the use of regional languages and the continuous use of regional languages.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the students in tenth grade at SMK Telkom 2 Medan's ability to use conjunction. The study's goal is to find out how well the students use conjunction and what obstacles they face. The tenth-grade students at SMK Telkom 2 Medan were the focus of the investigation. The research used qualitative method and analyze data. In collecting the data the researcher used test and interview. From the analysis of data, it was found that there were 4 (13,3%) students were good and categorized able, and 10 (33,3%) students were poor and categorized unable and 16 (53,3%) students were very poor and categorized unable. In this case, students were unable to learn use conjunction. It is concluded that analysis of students’ ability in using conjunction.
