Abstract

Geographically Surabaya is crossed by the Kalimas River which runs from south to north with several branches to the east. Therefore the utilization of this river bank has an important role to increase the ecological and visual value of the city while securing the city space assets. Utilization of river banks as active and attractive city parks has been carried out by the Surabaya City Government. Some of them are Taman Prestasi, Taman Eksresi, and Taman Buah. These three parks are both on the banks of the river which are river border spaces which are not allowed to be made buildings. This study aims to identify the typology of space formed in city parks located on the banks of rivers. Then the findings of the resulting typology of hope can be useful in the development of urban parks on the banks of the river. This study found that the geometry of the park formed is a linear park with a linear circulation path as well. Access to the linear park can be from the middle or the end of the park. So that space to attract visitor activity at the ends of the park so it does not become a dead space that is empty of visitors. The types of spaces created at the end of the park include playgrounds, foot reflexology paths, historical monuments, mini libraries and food courts.

Abstract

The construction of the MERR II-C highway is a series of projects in the Surabaya City Government connecting Gunung Anyarto Juanda. The impact of road construction is the splitting of the densely populated of kampong Gunung Anyar. The characteristics of the kampong penetrated by the road construction are formal and informal kampong. The sporadic character of the informal kampong is clearly visible from the debris of the remaining buildings, while the kampong formal is also visible from the neatly arranged character. At this time the character of the building trying to find identity because the character of informal kampong can still be detected but the influence of trade and service functions in MERR II-A and MERR II-B have begun to be seen. So that this research is considered important to determine the character of the building that appears the impact of the construction of the road MERR II-C. In mapping the character of the building using the place making approach, so it can know the building's character. The results showed that the character of the building formed was the character of commercial, service and residential buildings. Many new commercial buildings are found which are modifications between residential and commercial. Meanwhile a new communal space appeared to replace the communal space that had been lost.

Abstract

Kalanganyar Village is a coastal village located on the coast of Sidoarjo Regency. Like other coastal villages, Kalanganyar Village carries a special coastal character both in the livelihood sector, land use sector, potential natural disaster sector, and socio-economic sector. Several studies show that the socioeconomic conditions of coastal communities live below the poverty line, while the lives of coastal communities depend a lot on land use in coastal areas (ponds and sea). Clasification and phenomena of coastal areas are strongly defined by the spatial character of the coast which is located on the boundary of land and sea. Therefore, this study intends to look at the economic condition of the coastal community of Kalanganyar Village by analyzing the spatial conditions of the area. Researchers will observe how the development of the economic area of Kalanganyar Village from time to time spatially. The spatial data obtained will be analyzed by taking into account the existing condition of infrastructure, potential disasters, and the existing condition of livelihood diversification of the residents of Kalanganyar Village. From the results of the analysis, it was found that infrastructure development also contributed to the development of the economic area of Kalanganyar Village. The results of historical observations of the development of the region show stagnant development due to the cessation of infrastructure development in the Kalanganyar Village area, so that the people of Kalanganyar Village cannot create diversification of employment opportunities in their region.
