Abstract

Among the figures of modernism in Islam are Muhammad Abduh (1849–1905) and Rasyid Rida (1865–1935). These two modernist figures are teachers and students. This study analyzes the views of modernism from the two figures. Where this research is a qualitative research using exploratory methods and data analysis. The results obtained from this study are: the thoughts of modernism by Muhammad Abduh, which are related to reason and revelation that the teachings of the Koran and Hadith regarding social issues are only principles and basics. The principle is general without details, all of which can be adapted to the demands of the times. In order to adapt it to these demands in a modern way, it is necessary to have a new interpretation and for that it is necessary to open the door to ijtihad. Meanwhile, according to Rasyid Rida, one of the causes of the ummah to retreat is due to fatalism, therefore a work ethic is needed to advance Muslims. The work ethic is that Muslims must be active, try hard, and be willing to sacrifice their wealth and soul, in order to achieve the ideals of struggle. As for education for Rasyid Rida, general education reform needs to be carried out for traditional schools which so far only discuss religious issues. Abstrak Di antara tokoh modernisme dalam Islam yaitu Muhammad Abduh (1849–1905) dan Rasyid Ridha (1865–1935). Kedua tokoh modernisme ini merupakan guru dan murid. Penelitian ini menganalisis tentang pandangan modernisme dari kedua tokoh tersebut. Dimana penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksploratif dan analisis data. Adapun hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini yaitu: pemikiran modernisme yang dilakukan Muhammad Abduh yaitu berkaitan dengan akal dan wahyu bahwa ajaran-ajaran al-Quran dan Hadis mengenai soal-soal kemasyarakatan hanya merupakan prinsip dan dasar saja. Prinsip itu bersifat umum tanpa perincian yang kesemuanya itu dapat disesuaikan dengan tuntutan zaman. Untuk menyesuaikannya dengan tuntutan itu dengan modern, perlu diadakan interpretasi baru dan untuk itu perlu pintu ijtihad dibuka. Sementara menurut Rasyid Ridha salah satu penyebab umat mundur adalah karena fatalisme oleh karenanya perlu etos kerja untuk memajukan umat Islam. Etos kerja yaitu umat Islam harus bersikap aktif, berusaha keras, dan rela memberi pengorbanan harta dan juga jiwa, demi mencapai cita-cita perjuangan. Adapun mengenai pendidikan bagi Rasyid Ridha pembaharuan pendidikan umum perlu dilakukan untuk sekolah-sekolah tradisional yang selama ini hanya membahas masalah keagaamaan saja.

Abstract

The ongoing conflict in various parts of Indonesia shows the lack of religious views on the harmonization or relation of religions. So it is necessary to present the concept of religious unity of Ibn Arabi so that the view of the common word of religions can exist in the lives of religious adherents. This study was analyzed by qualitative research using exploratory methods and content analysis. The findings obtained are that with religious unity, Ibn Arabi wants to discuss the common word of religions, namely common word towards facing the One and Same God, although with various religious names and symbols. The differences that exist in each religion are only outward matters, but inwardly they are serving the One and the Same God. Thus, the existing differences are not a problem, on the contrary the existing similarities, should be put forward so that conflicts between religious communities can be resolved. Masih terjadinya konflik di berbagai wilayah Indonesia menunjukkan kurangnya pandangan penganut agama tentang harmonisasi atau relasi agama-agama. Sehingga dirasa perlu untuk menghadirkan konsep kesatuan agama Ibnu Arabi agar pandangan tentang titik temu agama-agama bisa eksis dalam kehidupan penganut agama. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan metode eksploratif dan analisis isi. Adapun temuan yang diperoleh bahwa dengan kesatuan agama Ibnu Arabi ingin mewacanakan titik temu agama-agama, yaitu bertitik temu pada menghadap kepada Tuhan Yang Satu dan Sama, walau dengan nama dan simbol agama yang beragam. Perbedaan yang ada pada setiap agama hanyalah persoalan lahiriyah, namun secara batiniyah sedang menghamba kepada Tuhan Satu dan Sama. Maka, perbedaan yang ada bukanlah persoalan, sebaliknya persamaan yang ada, hendaknya dikedepankan agar konflik antara umat beragama dapat terselesaikan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of marriage among female university students. This study focuses on discussing the dual role and gender inequality of female students at the State Islamic University (UIN) Imam Bonjol Padang. The approach in this study uses a gender bias approach and feminism. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative involving several key informants. The data sources in this study were obtained from direct observation (observation), interviews, literature studies and documentation. The findings of this study indicate that the roles and responsibilities experienced by female students simultaneously have had a negative impact on academic life in the form of continuing education in lectures that are not on target and on home life due to self-preparation, proper time management, mental unpreparedness, and unpreparedness. The economy causes a negative impact on women themselves because of their involvement in meeting household needs, so this reality can be a trigger for the birth of conflict and the marginalization of women.
