Abstract

This study aims to understand more deeply about the concept of evaluating educational programs by reviewing the article that has been made before. The method used in this study is qualitative with the type of literature review research or literature review. Literature research or literature review is research that examines or critically reviews the knowledge, ideas, or findings contained in the academic literature. The data source is searched through google scholar using the keyword 'educational program'. The nature of this study is descriptive analysis, which is the regular decomposition of the data that has been obtained. The results of this study, namely the evaluation of educational programs, will have a positive impact on the development of educational programs. Evaluation of educational programs is very important to provide recommendations as a consideration in determining decisions on programs that have been implemented. Evaluation of educational programs can determine the right decision according to the results of the evaluation. The evaluation will also measure the achievement of each program that has been implemented in accordance with the desired objectives.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to explore the integration of compulsion strategy and podcasts in improving the students’ English-speaking skills. It’s a teaching challenge in integrating appropriate strategy and media to upgrade students’ English-speaking skills. This study used a mixed-methods to explore the students’ English-speaking skills in integrating the compulsion strategy. A test investigated 42 English students at the Tarbiyah faculty of IAIN Sorong, Indonesia. It tested fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar through podcasts. The results showed that most students achieved significant improvement in English-speaking skills after integrating them. The questionnaire was focused on humanism methods: structured planning, regular control, learners’ management, training, the building of interactions, reflection on achievement progress, and re-evaluation of improvement progress. It showed that 86 percent decided strongly agreed and were interested in learning speaking skills utilizing compulsion strategy through podcasts. An interview investigated six respondents whether the compulsion strategy and podcasts could improve students’ English-speaking skills or not. It indicated that most students acquired advantages: enthusiasm to learn English, high self-confidence, and interest in compelled methods using humanism approaches in the teaching process.  Therefore, it is recommended to use a compulsion strategy in collaboration with podcast media for teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Keywords: Compulsion Strategy, Podcasts, English-Speaking Skills, Teaching and Learning, Humanism Approaches

Abstract

Mahasiswa mempunyai peran strategis sebagai bagian dari agent of change (agen perubahan). Kuliah Kerja Nyata Terpadu (KKNT) merupakan perwujudan pengabdian mahasiswa perguruan tinggi berupa pelaksanaan PPL dan KKN kepada masyarakat melalui pemberian bantuan perberdayaan, pelatihan, penyuluhan, pembimbingan, dan pendampingan dalam rangka menyadarkan potensi yang dimiliki sehingga turut meningkatkan kualitas hidup serta pembangunan. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa memperoleh kemampuan generatif berupa life skills (kecakapan/keterampilan hidup). Observasi dilakukan dengan cara diskusi dan terjun langsung ditengah-tengah masyarakat. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, maka telah ditentukan bersama program kerja KKNT kelompok meliputi program kelompok fisik dan non fisik. Salah satu program kerja kelompok yang telah terlaksana yakni Festival Anak Bangsa (FAB) tahun 2023 se-Misool Selatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni metode penelitian deskriptif. Metode penelitian deskriptif ini ditujukan untuk memperoleh jawaban yang terkait dengan analisis pelaksanaan FAB tahun 2023 se-Misool Selatan sehingga pembahasannya menggunakan uraian kata-kata. Melalui penelitian deskriptif, penelitian ini mencoba mencari deskripsi yang tepat dan cukup dari pelakasanaan FAB tersebut. Dilihat dari terlaksananya program ini, maka mahasiswa berperan sebagai fasilitator, dinamisator, dan motivator. Program kerja FAB ini diselenggarakan selama dua hari, terhitung dimulai dari tanggal 1 Desember 2023 - 2 Desember 2023 relatif berjalan lancar. Dengan demikian, setelah pelaksanaan program kerja FAB berakhir, diharapkan dapat memupuk rasa cinta anah air, menumbuhkan ukhuwah Islamiyah, mengembangkan jiwa agamis yang cinta Al-Quran dan melakukan peningkatan dakwah Islamiyah serta mendalami seni islami, sehingga perilaku negatif terhadap anak dan remaja di Misool Selatan dapat teratasi.
