Abstract

Aim of this study was to analyze the forecasting of race chicken meat production to meet the protein needs of Indonesia population. The study was conducted by using a descriptive quantitative research method with a secondary data approach using a time series analysis. The study was carried out from April to June 2022. The population used in this study were all time series data of race chicken meat production in Indonesia in the period of 2000-2021 and total number of Indonesia population in 2010 and 2020. Data processing is calculating using a Microsoft Excel, several forecasting methods that used for production analysis were moving average (MA), weight moving average (WMA), single exponential smoothing (SES), and double exponential smoothing (DES). While the projected population was analyzed using the geometric method. The result showed that there is an increase in the projected race chicken meat from the year period of 2000-2024 and it is linier with the increase of population. The best method for forecasting race chicken meat production is exponential smoothing with SES because it has a MAPE of 10-20% and the smallest error value. By viewing the consumption contribution rate, it is shown that projection in the production still not be sufficient to fulfill the consumption of population in kg per capita per year since several study reported the import dependency for race chicken meat.

Abstract

Root and tuber are a potential food source that can be used as an alternative for food diversification. The consumption of root and tuber as a staple food can support the fulfillment of nutritional needs based on the concept of balanced nutrition by consuming various kind of food . Meanwhile, food consumption is inseparable from social and economic factors that will affect people’s access towards food. This study aims to analyze the effect of regional social and economic factors towards the situation of root and tuber consumption in Indonesia. The design of this research is cross sectional study using secondary data published by BKP and BPS which includes the consumption of root and tuber, total population, average years of schooling, human development index (HDI), real per capita income, unemployment rate, poverty rate, and GDP per capita. The result showed that the variables studied simultaneously had a significant effect on the consumption of tubers, both in quantity (g/capita/day) and quality (kcal/capita/day) at significant levels of p=0.010 and p=0.008.

Abstract

The fisheries sector has a role in food security, sovereignty, and self-sufficiency. Fish as an animal food has the potential for nutritional content that can reduce nutritional problems. North Sumatra has abundant fishing resources. The aim of this research is to forecast the amount of fish production by fulfilling animal protein needs in the population in North Sumatra. The method used is a descriptive quantitative and time series approach using secondary data analysis (ADS). The research was conducted in April–May 2023. The population used in the study was all time series data on fish production, both marine and inland, in North Sumatra for 2010–2022, and data on Indonesia's population for 2010–2022. The projected results of fishery production in 2022–2025 look to be fluctuating but tend to increase. The projected average fishery production is 585.761 tons. The average protein sourced from fish production in North Sumatra still fulfills 31% of the daily protein adequacy rate. Population projections that continue to increase show that the availability of fish has not fulfilled the daily consumption of the people of North Sumatra.
