Abstract

Communication is an interpersonal process that involves verbal and non-verbal changes. Communication refers not only to the content but also to the feelings and emotions in which the individual conveys the relationship, because of that communication must be done as selectively as possible, the elderly for example, need to require special attention from everyone. Seniors in the family play the role of parents, as well as grandparents. Status and other related roles of individuals in a family will change through various ways that take place in the family life cycle. Elderly is a vulnerable age group and needs special attention from the family. Elderly social welfare is an action as an effort to meet the needs of the community, especially the elderly who cannot carry out their social functions, namely by providing assistance and support services. As a result of physical, psychological, emotional and social changes, the elderly demand good communication patterns. This study uses the evaluation method, the results of the study indicate that the importance of good family communication for the social welfare of the elderly. The results of this study can be used as additional knowledge, in providing counseling to families about the importance of implementing good communication in the elderly, and can provide treatment for family problems in elderly care.

Abstract

Poverty is a serious social problem in developing countries including Indonesia. The problem of poverty is a complex and multidimensional problem related to society, culture, economy and other aspects. Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are an alternative that people can choose to increase their income. MSMEs, especially MSEs, play a very important role in creating jobs and sources of income for the people of Indonesia, proving to be more able to survive the economic crisis that hit Indonesia in 1998. The worst point with a huge negative impact in almost every sector. This study is expected to explain the use of MSME funds by entrepreneurs and their impact on improving people's welfare. This study aims to determine and clarify the efficiency of the use of community MSME funds in Medan Baru District, North Sumatra.

Abstract

Many students lose motivation in learning. This can be caused by various things. This study aims to foster a passion for reading by introducing letters of the alphabet. The method used is FGD (Focus Group Discussion) by forming study groups. The problem that occurs here is that many chikdren still do not know the letters of alphabet. This has an impact on the ability of children who are still low. Obstacles in recognizing letters experienced by children cause difficulties in understanding lessons and laziness to do assignments given by teachers at school. Some children have memorized the letters of the alphabet but do not know how the shape of the alphabet is. If left unchecked, this will result in learning outcomes for students not being optimal and not asexpected. In addition, there will be difficulties at the next level of education. The aim of this program has also been achieved, as evidenced by the motivation that has fostered enthusiasm for learning to recognize letters even to explore new things that have never been thought of before.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood and adulthood and has relatively not yet reached the stage of mental and social maturity so that they face conflicting emotional and social pressures. The biological and psychological development of adolescents is influenced by environmental and social developments. Adolescent problems are very complex problems, ranging from the large number of problems to the TRIAD KRR, namely adolescent reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and drugs. To overcome this youth problem, the government has made various efforts through various programs and across institutions. BKKBN responds to these youth problems in accordance with its responsibilities in efforts to reduce population and family development, namely through family development policies. Through this Field Work Practice activity, the practitioner provides assistance by educating about the problems of TRIAD KRR, namely adolescent reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and drugs to adolescents at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Pantai Labu. The process of providing this assistance was also carried out in the Field Work Practice II mini project, using the casework method through the general or general intervention phase consisting of Assessment, Program Planning, Intervention, Evaluation and Termination.

Abstract

The author conducted practicum II at the Batang Onang Sub-District Office, North Padang Lawas. The Field Work Practice aims to improve students' skills in developing mindsets, adding ideas and insights so that later they will produce a skilled and quality workforce. Apart from that, street vendors are one of the embodiments of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Service. Through these street vendors, it is hoped that students will be able to make a good contribution to society. The second practicum conducted by the author was to examine the problems experienced by children in the village of Pasarmatanggor. This paper intends to review the problem of the lack of interest in learning and children's creativity and the solution. Interest in learning is a very important factor in the success of children. Because, the role of interest is very big influence on a person's willingness to accept and perform an action. In addition, children must be trained to be creative. Through the creative process, children will gain confidence thanks to their achievements in getting things done. This provision can help them form imaginative and inventive mindsets in the future.

Abstract

The teaching campus is a program of the Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) created by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This program aims to assist the learning process in Elementary Schools (SD) so that they are able to carry out an effective teaching and learning process. Through the teaching campus program, students have the responsibility of assisting teaching and learning activities, assisting the administration of the school where they are assigned. USU's teaching partner campuses are carried out to improve students' abilities, gain experience and to apply what has been previously learned. The author is placed in SD Negeri 060835 jl. Sei deli no. 3 kelurahan Silalas Kec. West Medan. In implementing this program the authors focused on learning to read because many students in the upper grades still could not read. In this program the method used is the method of social work, namely group work. This is done because the author comes from the Department of Social Welfare.

Abstract

Literacy education in Indonesia currently needs to be improved. Seeing that since the pandemic occurred, Indonesia's literacy rate has decreased. Because the teaching and learning process is passed online, the government makes innovations, one of which is the teaching campus. In the process of this activity, the author is required to be an agent of change. To improve proving students' literacy and confidence as clients, the authors create programs that support increased literacy and confidence. This program is carried out at UPT SDN 060813, Jl.Halat No.48, Medan Kota. With a total of 14 students in grade, V.  this program lasts for approximately 3 months. The method implemented in this program is group work with several stages, namely: (1) Engagement, (2) Intake and Contract, (3) Assessment, (4) Planning, (5) Intervention, (6) Evaluation, and (7) Termination. The results of this program show an increase in students' literacy and confidence as clients. At the initial meeting, there were still students who lacked literacy, and in terms of confidence, they read in low voices and intonation that was not clear. But as the program progressed, the authors noticed changes taking place in students' literacy and confidence.

Abstract

In the world of education, communication skills and national character education are needed, especially in elementary schools. Communication is the process of transferring information, understanding, and understanding from someone, a place, or something to something, place or other people. The purpose of writing is to develop communication skills and national character education of students in elementary school. The location of the practice was carried out at UPT SDN 060809 Jl. Halat No. 48 Medan City. With class V students as many as 27 students, which lasted for 3 months. The method used in this practice is the groupwork method by Zastrow, with stages: (1) Engagement, Intake, Contract, (2) Assessment, (3) Planning, (4) Intervention, (5) Monitoring, (6) Evaluation, and (7) Termination. The results of this practice show the development of communication skills of the students, and changes in the character of students for the better. At the beginning of the meeting, the students are difficult to make introductions in front of the class, and it is quite difficult to manage. After several meetings, the students began to dare to answer questions and make presentations in front of the class, also better at following the lesson.

Abstract

Field Work Practicum (PKL) is one of the courses that must be completed by students of USU's Social Welfare Study program under the guidance of trained and qualified supervisors. PKL 1 works closely with the MBKM Teaching Campus Partners-USU activities which require students to go directly to schools that are USU-Partners. The role of the teaching campus is very helpful for teachers in terms of literacy and numeracy to improve students' reading, writing and numeracy competencies at UPT SDN 066045 Medan Helvetia. During the implementation of the teaching campus program there were several problems, namely learning seemed monotonous, rigid and dominated by teachers who did not apply a variety of learning systems. Thus, learning breakthroughs are needed that are able to make students active in reading, writing and even counting. This teaching campus program does not only aim at increasing literacy and numeracy, but this program also aims to help improve the quality of schools in terms of learning, administration, and technology. This assistance is expected to be able to improve the quality of student learning so as to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for students to study. This practicum uses the CaseWork method proposed by Zastrow, as follows: Intake and contract, Assessment, Planning, Intervention, Evaluation, Termination. The results of this practicum activity aim that the children at SDN 066045 Medan Helvetia can understand learning well

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara penganut sistem demokrasi yang mana kedudukan rakyat menempati posisi yang tertinggi. Konsekuensi dari sistem demokrasi yang dianut oleh sebuah negara ialah adanya jaminan atas hak kemerdekaan untuk mengeluarkan pendapat. Dengan adanya sistem demokrasi yang dianut oleh bangsa Indonesia memberikan kedudukan dan juga apresiasi yang tinggi kepada masyarakat Indonesia agar dapat ikut serta dalam mengawasi proses berjalannya negara Indonesia dengan dapat menyampaikan aspirasi, dan juga pendapat secara lisan maupun tertulis. Salah satu bentuk penyampaian aspirasi masyarakat ialah dengan melakukan unjuk rasa. Dalam menggunakan haknya masyarakat Desa Dalu Sepuluh A Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa melakukan aksi unjuk rasa untuk menyalurkan aspirasinya tentang kerusakan jalan yang meresahkan dan mengganggu aktifitas masyarakat. Penelitian ini menganalisis penanganan case study aksi unjuk raya yang dilakukan oleh sekelompok masyarakat Desa Dalu Sepuluh A akibat kerusakan jalan umum kawasan Desa Dalu Sepuluh A Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa. Oleh karena itu pekerja sosial mengambil peran untuk membantu menyalurkan aspirasi masyarakat Desa Dalu Sepuluh A Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa.
