Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine library preparedness in dealing with fire disasters at the Regional Library and Archives Service of West Java Province. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects of this research are the general section of electricity, and the part of the library manager. The results of this study indicate that preparedness in dealing with fire disasters has been implemented at the Regional Library and Archives Service of West Java Province. At the prevention stage, the library conducts routine inspections of buildings where collections are stored, electricity, supplies of equipment used to anticipate fire disasters, and makes regulations. At the response stage, in the form of disaster response training activities for librarians and employees, maintenance of equipment and electricity, as well as identifying important collections and letters so that they are stored on floors that are easily accessible. In the reaction stage, the library makes various Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to disaster preparedness. During the recovery phase, routine risk management analysis activities are carried out. As for the advice given, it is hoped that the library can maximize the implementation of fire disaster preparedness by implementing existing SOP.Keyword: disaster preparedness, fire, public libraryABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesiapsiagaan perpustakaan dalam menghadapi bencana kebakaran di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Subyek penelitian ini yaitu bagian umum kelistrikan, dan bagian pengelola perpustakaan.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesiapsiagaan dalam menghadapi bencana kebakaran sudah diterapkan di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Barat. Pada tahap pencegahan, perpustakaan melakukan pemeriksaan secara rutin terhadap bangunan tempat penyimpanan koleksi, kelistrikan, penyediaan peralatan yang digunakan untuk mengantisipasi bencana kebakaran, dan membuat peraturan. Pada tahap tanggapan, berupa kegiatan pelatihan tanggap bencana bagi pustakawan dan karyawan, pemeliharaan peralatan dan kelistrikan, serta mengidentifikasi koleksi dan surat penting agar disimpan pada lantai yang mudah terjangkau. Pada tahap reaksi, perpustakaan membuat berbagai Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) yang berkaitan dengan kesiapsiagaan bencana. Pada tahap pemulihan, berupa kegiatan analisis manajemen resiko yang rutin dilakukan. Adapun saran yang diberikan diharapkan perpustakaan dapat memaksimalkan pelaksanaan kesiapsiagaan bencana kebakaran dengan menjalankan SOP yang ada.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the activities of selection of library materials in university libraries. The research location is in the Library of the Faculty of Arts and Letters (FISS) Pasundan University. The research method used is through qualitative methods. Collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. The informants in this study were the head of the library and two librarians. The results showed that in selecting library materials, the Faculty of Arts and Letters (FISS) Pasundan University had identified the characteristics of the use of the library. In addition, it has paid attention to the criteria and stages of implementing the selection of library materials which are usually applied to university libraries. The obstacles faced in the selection process were the difficulty of obtaining a selector team from librarians, curriculum changes, limited selection tools often used by librarians, the large number of collections with art subjects that had to be given from abroad which tended to be expensive, and the Covid-19 pandemic which create a library must provide electronic collections. In dealing with the various obstacles above, the library involves lecturers, experts and deans as a selector team. In addition, it cooperates with various other libraries and informs its users of various electronic reference sources that are easily accessible and free of charge. Thus, the Library of the Faculty of Arts and Letters (FISS) of Pasundan University can still provide collection materials that are in accordance with the needs of its users that support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education can be achieved.Keyword: selection of library materials, college librariesABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan seleksi bahan pustaka di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Adapun lokasi penelitian di Pepustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Seni dan Sastra (FISS) Universitas Pasundan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan melalui metode kualitatif. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah Kepala Perpustakaan dan dua orang pustakawan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam melakukan seleksi bahan pustaka Perpustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Seni dan Sastra (FISS) Universitas Pasundan sudah melakukan identifikasi mengenai karakteristik penggunaan perpustakaannya. Selain itu, sudah memperhatikan kriteria dan tahapan pelaksanaan seleksi bahan perpustakaan yang biasanya diterapkan pada perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Adapun hambatan yang dihadapi dalam proses seleksi adalah sulitnya memperoleh tim selektor dari pustakawan, adanya perubahan kurikulum, terbatasnya alat bantu seleksi yang sering digunakan oleh pustakawan, banyaknya koleksi dengan subjek seni yang harus diberi dari luar negeri yang cenderung mahal dan adanya Pandemi Covid-19 yang membuat perpustakaan harus menyediakan koleksi elektronik. Dalam menghadapi berbagai hambatan di atas maka perpustakaan melibatkan dosen, kepakaran dan dekan sebagai tim selektor. Selain itu, melakukan kerjasama dengan berbagai perpustakaan lain serta menginformasikan berbagai sumber refrensi elektronik yang mudah diakses dan gratis kepada pada penggunanya. Dengan demikian, Perpustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Seni dan Sastra (FISS) Universitas Pasundan tetap dapat menyediakan bahan koleksi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan penggunannya yang mendukung Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi dapat tecapai.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy for developing digital collections in school libraries. The method used is qualitative research with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research was conducted at the Widura Library of Vocational High School 3 Yogyakarta. The study involved three informants, consisting of the head librarian and school library staff. The results show that the school library already has a digital collection as part of its development. The process of developing digital collections in school libraries includes analyzing user needs, mapping digital collection sources, and evaluating development. The development of digital collections is still limited to obtaining electronic school book collections from the Ministry of Education. Some strategies that can be implemented by school libraries include collaborating with other libraries and downloading digital collections that are available for free from digital collection providers.
