Abstract

Studi ini menguraikan perpaduan antara konsep Islam dan metode Montessori terutama untuk membangun karakter yang baik bagi anak-anak. Metode pendidikan Montessori adalah salah satu metode yang populer sebagai salah satu metode terbaik di Barat, terutama untuk mengajar anak-anak. Dalam al-Quran, sebagai sumber kehidupan masyarakat muslim, telah disebutkan semua laporan Montessori. Ada lima konsep dalam metode pendidikan Montessori yang bisa dipadukan dengan teori mengajar anak-anak dalam al-Quran dan al-Hadits; Konsep Kebebasan dengan konsep "Fitrah", Struktur dengan konsep Langkah demi langkah, Realitas dan Alam dengan konsep Mencintai Alam dan Makhluk Hidup, Keindahan dan Nuansa sejalan dengan konsep Kebersihan dan Keindahan Islam, dan Materi Montessori dengan Proses Konsep Pembelajaran Hidup. Hasil perpaduan nilai-nilai tersebut dapat membangun karakter yang baik untuk anak-anak, terutama menjadikan mereka orang beragama dengan sikap yang baik untuk masa depan mereka. This study simply reveals about the assimilation of Islamic education values and Montessori education method especially to build the good character for children. Montessori education method is one of the method which really popular as one of the best method in Western, especially for teaching children. In al-Quran, as the source of Moslem people’s life, has mentioned all the statements of Montessori. There are five aspects in Montessori education methods that we collaborate with the theory of teaching children in al-Quran and al-Hadits; Concept of Freedom with Concept of “Fitrah”, Structure and Order with Concept of Step by Step, Reality and Nature with Concept of Loving the Nature and Living Being, Beauty and Nuance in line with Concept of Cleanness and Beauty of Islam, and Montessori Materials with Concept Process of Life Learning. The result of collaboration those methods can build the good character for children, especially create them to be religious person with the great attitude and behavior for their future.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan fakta bahwa mahasiswa Tadris Bahasa Inggris IAIN Salatiga memiliki sensitivitas yang cukup tinggi terhadap isu “Indonesia Darurat Kekerasan Seksual pada Anak”. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah presentase yang menunjukkan 77% mahasiswa peka terhadap isu nasional tersebut. Adapun ditinjau dari ranah gender, mahasiswa laki-laki lebih update terhadap kasus nasional tersebut terlihat dari hasil presentase yang menunjukkan 80% mengetahui kasus kekerasan seksual pada anak dibandingkan mahasiswa perempuan yang hanya mengetahui 73% issue nasional tersebut. Penelitian ini juga menganalisis reaksi, tanggapan, dan respon mahasiswa terhadap isu tersebut dilihat dari ranah bahasa dan gender melalui personal essay pada mata kuliah academic writing bahasa Inggris. Hasilnya menunjukkan mahasiswa laki-laki lebih banyak merespon isu dengan memberikan solusi dari sudut pandang hukum serta mendorong pemerintah untuk memberatkan hukuman pada pelaku kekerasan seksual anak, serta mereformasi hukum khususnya pada sistem peradilan anak sedangkan mahasiswa perempuan lebih dominan menunjukkan empatinya kepada para korban kekerasan seksual anak dan hanya sedikit menyinggung tentang gagasan, solusi, dan usaha untuk menyelesaikan kasus-kasus kekerasan pada anak.

Abstract

Teaching English for Young Learners (TEYL) can be integrated with the advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to raise students’ potential in learning. The use of digital game as a tool and medium has potential to facilitate students in learning English. When this colaboration used thoughtfully, it brings excellent results for improving students’ motivation in learning English. This study is a qualitative research and uses Research and Development (R & D) method which gives contribution as the alternative way to develop innovative interactive material in teaching English for Young Learners (TEYL).The result of this research is producing an education computer game for first graders of elementary schools. The education game provide interesting pictures that is completed by English dubbing therefore it attracts students to learn English

Abstract

Ini adalah penelitian eksperimental sebagai role model pendidikan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal di tingkat universitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merevitalisasi identitas karakter bangsa, khususnya unggah-ungguh Jawa (etiket) untuk mahasiswa Jurusan Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) di Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Salatiga di era modern. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kursus kepribadian yang dilakukan dalam 3 (tiga) tahapan, yaitu tahap pembentukan karakter, tahap aktualisasi, dan tahap pengembangan karakter. Ada 6 (enam) indikator karakter unggah-ungguh Jawa yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu tata krama, lembah manah (mengalah), andhap asor (rendah hati), tepa slira (toleransi), grapyak (ramah) dan ewuh-pekewuh (enggan). Temuan menyimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan antara pre-test dan post-test dalam 21 hari pelatihan kursus kepribadian. Ada 51,1% responden yang menjadi sangat sering menerapkan unggah-ungguh di Jawa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, 23,7% sering menerapkannya, 20,7% kadang-kadang menerapkannya dan ada 4,6% yang tidak pernah menerapkannya. Siswa mampu memahami dan mengubah sikap kebarat-baratan menjadi lebih Jawa (njawani). Sebagaimana ditinjau dari teori afektif Taksonomi Krathwohl, penggunaan kursus kepribadian telah mempengaruhi lima komponen domain dari sikap afektif dalam mengembangkan karakter mahasiswa suku Jawa di jurusan Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) pada tingkat Penerimaan (kehadiran), Menanggapi, Menilai, Organisasi, dan Karakterisasi.This is an experimental research as a role model of local wisdom-based character education at the university level. The purpose of this research is to revitalize the identity of the nation's character, especially Javanese unggah-ungguh (etiquette) for English Education Department (TBI) students at State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga in the modern era. The technique used in this research is a personality course carried out in 3 (three) stages, i.e. character formation stage, actualization stage, and character development stage. There are 6 (six) character indicators of Javanese unggah-ungguh used in this research, which are tata krama (manners), lembah manah (relent), andhap asor (humble), tepa slira (tolerance), grapyak (friendly) and ewuh-pekewuh (reluctant). The findings conclude that there is a significant increase between pre-test and post-test in 21 days of personality course training. There are 51.1% of respondents who become very frequent in applying Javanese unggah-ungguh in daily life, 23.7% often apply it, 20.7% sometimes apply it and there are 4.6% who never apply it. Students are able to understand and change westernized attitudes to be more javanese (njawani). As reviewed from the affective theory of Krathwohl Taxonomy, the use of personality course has influenced five component domains of affective attitudes in developing the character of Javanese students in English Education Department (TBI) in the level of Receiving (attending), Responding, Valuing, Organization, and Characterization.

Abstract

Since the COVID-19 pandemic came up suddenly to this world, everything takes a drastic turn. The Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia reacted to this issue by making an online learning policy Number 3 of 2020 on Prevention of COVID-19 in the Education Unit. Many education institutions adopted this policy by creating online tools such as YouTube as a resource of transition from face-to-face learning to virtual learning since it is seen as a popular medium used in online classes. This research investigates the use of YouTube as a medium in the English 1 course for non-English students at one of State Islamic University in Salatiga. YouTube is an online learning platform that enables lecturers and students to upload, view, share, and even interact through the comments column in the learning videos. A descriptive qualitative method is used to achieve the objective of the research, which involved three classes from the Early Childhood Islamic Education study program, the Islamic Elementary School study program, and the Islamic Religious Education study program as the objects in this research. The researcher limits the content of YouTube from the channel "AR," while the materials are about Degree of Comparison and Collocation. Students' responses from those three classes in the YouTube column have been analyzed to investigate the findings. The finding shows that YouTube brings a good impact on non-English students in ELT. This finding is supported by the result of the analysis answer sheet of the quiz from students, the survey on students’ perception, and other comments about the materials on the YouTube comment column. Finally, it can be concluded that YouTube can be an effective virtual teaching medium in ELT among non-English students at IAIN Salatiga based on the result of survey by respondents.
