Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic caused learning to be done with an online system. Although much of the current literature recognizes the ability of the Internet as a medium of learning, less is known about students' self-confidence to use the Web, especially those who take part in online learning. This research is intended to understand students' abilities when using the Internet toward online information seeking. This study considers Self-Efficacy and Information Seeking Theory of online learning to examine influences of self-efficacy on behaviour toward online information seeking. Particularly, information seeking behaviour are explored as the consequences of belief in their capabilities to organize and execute the online learning. Data were collected through a quantitative study applying online questionnaire carried out in 2022, using a representative sample (N=58). Findings showed self-efficay has a strong correlation with information seeking behaviour. Self-efficacy also has a significant influence on information seeking behaviour. If self-efficacy increase, then information seeking behaviour will increase. The findings has contributed to the evolving of the Self-Efficacy and Information Seeking Theory, particularly in online learning in developing contries like Indonesia. This study provides implications to e-learning, educators, colleges, government and website system developers of online learning sites dealing with education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Peran Humas Pemprov DKI Jakarta Dalam Mensosialisasikan Aplikasi Jaki (Jakarta Kini). Hal ini mengingat kemajuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi begitu pesat di era digitalisasi sehingga pemerintah provinsi DKI Jakarta tertarik menciptakan aplikasi Jaki untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi warga Jakarta. Teori yang digunakan new media dan seven’s Cs. Paradigma penelitian konstruktivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode penelitian studi kasus dengan melibatkan empat narasumber. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara. Pengujian keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teori. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran media sosial Humas Pemprov DKI Jakarta dalam mensosialisasikan aplikasi Jaki (Jakarta Kini), menggunakan konsep seven’s Cs yang mencakup credibility, context, content, clarity, channel, continuity and consistency, dan capability of the audience. Komunikator yang kredibel yang menyampaikan konten aplikasi Jaki secara jelas dan terus menerus kepada target sasarannya. Pesan komunikasi yang disampaikan menggunakan bahasa yang sederhana, jelas, dan mudah dimengerti sehingga terjadi perubahan perilaku audiens menjadi berminat mendownload aplikasi Jaki.

Abstract

Public speaking is a soft skill of communication science, which provides a primary guidance to be skilled speaking in front of audiences. For students of major in accounting at Perguruan Tinggi Advent Surya Nusantara (PTASN) in Pematang Siantar North Sumatera, this training provides benefits for self-development as well as preparation to impenetrate the realm of workplce or  profession. This was the reason for carrying out this community service activity, attended by 45 students. Activities in the form of training held on the PTASN campus for one day. During the training, participants were given material on public speaking and practice and were evaluated by the facilitator. Implementation of the program starts from the early observation, orientation, provision of learning material, practice and evaluation. The results of the training were considered good based on the participants' enthusiasm and their confidence’s when practice of public speaking .

Abstract

This study considers Transformative Learning Theory of online students. This research aims to evaluate the level of student satisfaction with online learning platforms and learning experiences during the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected through a quantitative study applying online questionnaire carried out in December 2022 – August 2023, using a representative sample (N=104). Findings showed students highly satisfied with the online learning environment and with the school support during COVID-19 pandemic. This study also found that most of the students highly preferred the online learning or the blended learning classroom. The students highly preferred with Zoom as the learning platform and as a course delivery tool. The findings has contributed to the evolving of the Transformative Learning Theory, particularly in online learning in developing contries like Indonesia. This study provides implications to e-education, educators, education institutions, and website system developers of online learning sites dealing with materials and services.
