Abstract

ABSTRACTAVIFAUNA POTENCY FOR DEVELOPING BIRDWACTHING ECOTOURISM IN THE VILLAGE OF ECOTOURISM BAHOIThe research aimed to study diversity, distribution, and avifauna potency for birdwacthing ecotourism in the mangrove vegetation of Bahoi village, west of Likupang, North Minahasa. The research was conducted from June to September 2015. The purposive method was used to collect data. Observations were made at 36 points determined based on bird preferences. From that observations it was found 47 bird spesies, belonging to 25 families. Among all the species, 65.9% is categorized as resident, 23.4% as endemik of Sulawesi, and 10.6% as migratory. Based on the government regulation (PP No. 7, 1999), there are 12 protected birds spesies within the resident and Sulawesian endemic species. The value of diversity in this mangrove was 3.24 or higher than Shannon-Wiener criteria. Index of eveness was 0.84 or higher than Magguran criteria. Based on all the values obtained, two birdwatching lines for ecotourism were proposed.Keywords: avifauna, bird diversity, ecotourism, birdwacthing.

Abstract

ABSTRACTImproving management efforts of a tourist area as in Bukit Kasih Kanonang Tourism Area could be based on the perception of visitors. Interview Method was used to collect data from 100 respondents for a two-month research period that was done on every Saturday and Sunday. Visitor perception assessment was using Likert Scale. The result showed that the visitor perception level is in between of 255 - 904 with the average value was on 575.5. Based on the value gained, it can be concluded that visitor perception level was not good to good enough. Abstract

ABSTRACT  Mahogany tree besides capturing carbon for its natural growth, it can be hypotezised that the tree has a capability to reduce CO2, heat energy and other pollutant contents that released to the air.  Total carbon captured by the mahagony tree, then can be estimated quantitavely in form of biomass.  The aims of this research were to calculate biomass content on mahagony trees and to estimate the biomass characters on each part of the trees.  The researh was done in UNSRAT area from June to July 2017 by Cencus Method.  The data were analysed by using Allometric Equations developed to calculate biomass content of mahogany tree.  The result showed that from the 313 trees, the total biomass was 304,052.99 kg.  It was characterized by the biomass content on tree trunks was 5 %, stems 73 %, branches 17 %, branchlets 2 %, and on leaves 3 %. These imply that the mahagony tree can be planted to over released pollutant area in order to reduce the CO2, heat energy and other pollutant contents.  Keywords : Mahogany Tree, carbon, biomass, UNSRAT

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Temporal variation in canopy phenology of Mahogany Tree (Swietenia macrophylla King) is a general pnenomenon that happened in field plantations.  Seasonal timing in case of early - late shoot emergence, leaf shading, flower emergence, and fruit maturation are life cycle events that can be used to predict flowering patterns and reproductive success.  Mahogany tree vegetation in UNSRAT area is one of isolated population that interested to be considered.    The aims of this research was to study temporal variation in canopy phenology of Mahogany Tree.  The researh was done by Cencus Method from May to June 2017.  The data were analysed by using descriptive statistics.  The result showed that from the 346 tree visually observed, there are 134 trees have new shoot emergence,  189 trees have young leaves, 26 trees have yellow color leaves for shading, 4 trees in stage of flowering emergence, 82 trees in fruiting stage, 6 trees has fallen fruits, and 1 tree has contain young fruit.  These imply that the canopy phenology of mahagony tree has high variation in response to its ambient condition.  Keywords : Mahogany Tree, canopy phenology, temporal variation, seasonal timing, UNSRAT

Abstract

ABSTRACT Macrocephalon maleo S. Muller, 1846, an endemic bird species to Sulawesi and classified as Endangered, is now used as flagship species for conservation purpose. Conversion of its habitat, habitat loss and fragmentation, and degraded habitat quality are several suspected factors that impacted the bird population. Its habitat in Tanjung Binerean at Mataindo Village, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency is now suspected to be declined in form of habitat quality. The aims of this research was to analyze Maleo Bird's habitat based on tree structure and composition. The researh was done in Tanjung Binerean at Mataindo Village, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency in June 2017 by Systematic Strip Method. Data were collected from three transects on 25 plots, and were analysed its relative frequency distribution. The result showed that there were 56 tree species that dominated by Alianthus integrifolia (21,23 %), Cananga odorata (12,16 %), Canarium asperum (8,82 %), and Ficus septica (8,32 %). This imply that the Maleo's habitat is now in disturbed condition with the presence of F. septica.Keywords : Macrocephalon maleo, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency, habitat, flagship species, Ficus septica

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to make an inventory of bird species in the KRMSP area, and analyze changesin the structure and composition of its bird species. This research was conducted in September 2020 atMegawati Soekarno Putri Botanical Garden, Ratatotok, Southeast Minahasa, North Sulawesi. Themethod used in this research was the IPA method (Indice Ponctuels d'Abondance) with priorityobservation points in the reclamation areas of years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003/2004 and 2006/2007. Thisresearch covered a total of 15 observation points in 5 reclaimed areas. Results observed 896 birdindividuals, divided into 26 families and 44 species. Results were analyzed using the Shannon-Wienerdiversity index, resulting in a diversity value of 2.92. Comparative analysis of bird speciescomposition from 2008, 2009 and 2020 showed an increase on bird species and families as well as asignificant decrease in the number of individual birds observed. Comparison of Shannon-Wienerdiversity indices in years 2008, 2009 and 2020 show a moderate diversity value across all years. Thediversity index value in 2020 (2.92) is lower than in 2008 (2.94).Keywords: botanical garden, birds, comparative data.

Abstract

Abstract Butterflies are a group of insects belonging to the order Lepidoptera, which have two pairs of wings and a scaly body. Butterfly species richness may decrease due to increased deforestation and conversion of forest land which affect the diversity of larval and imago feed plants. The purpose of this research was to analyze the diversity of butterfly species and feed plants for larvae and imago in the protected forests of Mount Tampusu and Mahawu. The method used in this research is the pathway count method. The results showed that there were 5 families of 37 species of butterflies in the two research locations including 26 species in the Mount Tampusu protected forest and 23 species in the Mount Mahawu protected forest. The results of the analysis of the Shannon-Wiener diversity index are H'= 2.74 and the evenness index analysis is: E = 2.74/ln (37) = 0.76. The larval food plants found in the Mount Tampusu Protection Forest were Ficus sp. and feed for larvae found in the Mount Mahawu Protection 2 Forest, namely Glochidion sp., and Alpinia sp.. The imago feed plants in the Mount Tampusu Protection Forest were Crassocephalum crepidioides, Lantana camara, Lindernia crustacean, Mikania cordata and forage plants in the Mount Protection Forest, namely Bidens pilosa, Crassocephalum crepidioides, Hyptis capitate, Impatiens sp., Sida acuta, and Vernonia sp.. Abstract

AbstractFicus is a genus of plants that require external assistance in order to pollinate.Pollination infruit is Ficus highly dependent on various pollinator insects. Thispollinator insect will help the pollination process in Ficus. The purpose of this studywas to determine the pollinator species associated with four species Ficus in theBatuputih Nature Park. This study used a method by tracing the Batuputih Nature Parkarea to collect data on four species Ficus. The results showed that there were 8pollinator species associated with four species Ficus , consisting of 66 pollinators fromthe family Agaonidae, ordo Hymenoptera. Pollination in four species is Ficus not onlycarried out by one pollinator insect species per Ficus but by two or even three pollinatorinsect species and one pollinator species can pollinate more than one species Ficus.2Frequency distribution analysis shows the number of pollinator frequencies foundin four species Ficus. The results of the diversity index analysis showed that thediversity of pollinators in the four species was Ficus low. The regression analysisshowed a very low addition for each increase in one unit diameter, while the results ofthe correlation analysis showed that the diameter of syconia and the number ofpollinator insects were not correlated.Keywords: Association of pollinator species, Ficus spp., Batuputih Nature Park.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Birds that are not able to adapt to changes in land from forest to non-forest will look for a place of removal to become a new area of life. The use of space in the forest profile, both vertically and horizontally in various habitat types, shows a close relationship between birds and their habitat, especially in terms of adaptation patterns. The vertical distribution of bird species can be seen from the spatial stratification of the forest profil.The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of bird species in several habitat profiles in the Protected Forest of Mount Mahawu, Masarang dan Tampusu. The Methods used in this study were the IPA-Count Method ( Index point of abudance) and the rapid assessment method. The results showed that there were 3 habitat profiles in the Mount Mahawu Protected Forest as many as 31 bird species with the Shannon-wiener Diversity Index of 2.27. There are 3 habitat profiles in the Mount Masarang Protection Forest as many as 34 bird species with the Shannon-wiener Diversity index of 2.15. There are 3 habitat profiles in the Mount Tampusu Protection Forest as many as 27 bird species with a Shannon wiener Diversity index of 2.31. The total habitat profile is 4 profiles, 43 species, 34 genera, 23 families with the shannon-wiener Diversity index of 6.73. Keywords : Birds, Diversity of bird species, Protected Forest of Mt. Abstract

Abstract The research to measure the tolerance level of the Knobbed Hombil to the magnitude of habitat disturbance and the determinants of tree habitat used in the Limited Production Forest of Andagile River - Gambuta River - Ilanga River in North Bolaang Mongondow Regency. Based on the existing habitat disturbance, the Knobbed Hombil in the Andagile River Limited Production Forest - Gambuta River - Ilanga River, North Bolaang Mongondow has a tolerance level in habitats that have 5 to 3 remaining Forest Stratification and found in the Forest Stratification A (> 30 m), the Forest Stratification B (20 - 30 m), and Forest Stratification C (4 - 20 m). The place altitude above the sea level, the physiography, the slope, are suitable habitat conditions for the Knobbed Hombil and also along the trees that are used together with other animals; While it comes with a tolerated noise level by Knobbed Hombil.
