Abstract

Plankton in aquatic ecosystems has a very important role, especially in the food chain, because plankton is the main producer that makes the largest contribution to the total primary productivity of an aquatic area. This Field Work Practice aims to determine the species and abundance of plankton that is good and correct according to widely used standards. This Field Work Practice was carried out on 10 January – 10 February 2023. Determination of field work practice stations using the purposive sampling method at 1 location and three plankton sampling points. In situ measurement of water quality parameters includes temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH and salinity. Plankton samples were identified and analyzed at the Aquatic Resources Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Papua. The results of field work practice obtained eight classes of plankton and classes consisting of 33 genera. Phytoplankton found 29 genera from 5 classes namely Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Dinophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, And Zooplankton found 3 classes consisting of 4 genera, namely Scyphozoa, Copepoda, Eurotatoria. The highest abundance of Phytoplankton was at seagrass points, namely 1005 Sel/L, coral reefs 637.5 Sel/L and mangroves 530 Sel/L. The highest abundance of Zooplankton was found in seagrasses around 40 individu/L, coral reefs with 10 individu/L, and mangroves with 0 individu/L.

Abstract

Gastropods are one of the classes of mollusks that associate well with seagrass ecosystems. The waters of Pasir Putih are included in a coastal area where many types of gastropods are found in seagrass ecosystems. However, not all types of gastropods in seagrass beds in this region are well known. For this reason, this study aims to determine the types of gastropods associated with seagrass ecosystems in the waters of Pasir Putih, Manokwari. But specifically the objectives of this study are divided into 3, knowing the types of gastropods, seagrass species and the association of gastropods with seagrass in Pasir Putih Waters, Manokwari. In sampling, the quadratic transect method was used, drawn perpendicularly from the shore towards the shore. Physical parameters of water chemistry were observed in situ, this data collection method used was descriptive method. Based on the results of the identification that has been done, that there are 115 individuals, 42 species and 15 families that exist in the White Sand Waters, Manokwari. Four seagrass species were found, namely Cymodocea rotundata, Halodule pinifolia, Halophila ovalis, and Syringodium isoetifolium.

Abstract

Seagrass is a plant that lives in shallow seas with various different types of substrate and seagrass is a type of plant that has flowers, leaves and fruit. Manokwari City is one of the capital cities of West Papua Province which has waters, one of which is Pasir Putih waters. The diversity of seagrass species in this location is not yet well known, for this reason it is necessary to conduct research regarding the diversity of seagrass in the waters of Pasir Putih, Manokwari, West Papua. This research was conducted in July using the quadrant transect method. Based on research results, the types of seagrass found around the waters of white sand beaches consist of 4 types, namely Cymodocea rotundata, Halophila ovalis, Halodule pinifolia and Syringodium isoetofolium. The highest density of seagrass species is the Syringodium isoetifolium type with a value of 958 stands/m2, the highest relative density is the Syringodium isoetifolium seagrass type with a density percentage of 54%. The highest relative frequency is the seagrass species Halophila ovalis with a percentage of 34%. The level of diversity of seagrass species in transect I is in the medium group and in transects II and III is in the low group. The highest uniformity index value in transect I was 0.82 and the dominance index can be concluded that there is no type of seagrass that dominates the community.
