Abstract

Most of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in West Nusa Tenggara are engaged in the culinary (food) industry, with one such enterprise located in Nyurlembang Village, Narmada District, West Lombok Regency. Generally, the food products produced by MSMEs in Nyurlembang Village lack halal certification, which can lead to consumer hesitancy, especially among Muslims. Therefore, conducting socialization activities related to halal certification for MSMEs in Nyurlembang Village is of paramount importance. The purpose of these socialization activities is to educate and enhance the understanding of MSME operators regarding the significance of halal product certification. The implementation of this socialization employs lecture-style sessions and direct discussions. The socialization activities consist of three stages: preparation, execution, and evaluation. Overall, community service activities through halal certification socialization were successful, as evidenced by the active discussions held between business operators and the resource persons delivering the material. However, a challenge encountered during the implementation of this socialization was the timing, which was not optimal

Abstract

Hypertension occurs when blood pressure exceeds normal limits, with a systolic pressure typically around 140 mmHg and a diastolic pressure around 90 mmHg. One approach to managing blood pressure involves a combination of modern therapies and the utilization of traditional herbal remedies. This study is a literature review aimed at gathering data and sources related to a specific topic from various sources, including journals, books, the internet, and other published works. Several herbal plants, such as dates, boiled celery water, moringa leaves, papaya leaves, ginger, garlic extract, cucumber juice, and carrot juice, can serve as traditional remedies to lower blood pressure. Hypertensive patients may consider using traditional (non-pharmacological) medicine as an alternative for blood pressure reduction.

Abstract

Soy milk powder is one of the natural products used to diversify liquid soy milk. One of the drawbacks of processed soy milk is its bland taste or odor, which necessitates the addition of essence in the form of red ginger extract. The objective of this research is to determine the best treatment based on organoleptic characteristics, specifically using the hedonic method or panelist preference test. This research employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, each replicated 3 times: S0 = 500 ml soybean juice, S1 = 500 ml soybean juice + 20 ml red ginger extract, S2 = 500 ml soybean juice + 30 ml, and S3 = 500 ml soybean juice + 40 ml. The organoleptic test results for soy milk powder revealed that the aroma preferred most by the panelists was found in treatment S3 with a score of (3.9), the taste preferred most by the panelists was also found in treatment S3 with a score of (4.4), and the color preferred most by the panelists was found in treatment S0 with a score of (4.1).

Abstract

The use of instructional media in teaching Natural Sciences has a significant impact on student engagement, concept comprehension, motivation, and learning outcomes. This research aims to develop herbarium-based instructional media that can support the learning of classifying living organisms for seventh-grade students at Pondok Pesantren Darunnadwah. The research method employed is Research & Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which encompasses three main stages: Analysis, Design, and Development. The validation results by the IPA teacher indicate a score of 80% (very worthy), and based on student responses during the trial of the herbarium media, an average score of 89.5% (very worthy) was obtained. Herbarium media does not require further revision.

Abstract

The Covid-19 virus outbreak has changed the learning process in higher education from face-to-face learning to distance learning online (on the network). Distance learning via online raises obstacles or challenges faced by both lecturers and students. This research aims to determine the obstacles to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic among prospective science teacher students at Mataram State Islamic University. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research using Internet-based research methods through the distribution of Google forms. The research population was all Tadris IPA Biology students and there were 23 students as respondents. Research data analysis uses qualitative analysis techniques. From the research results, it was concluded that the obstacles faced by students include network disruption, limited and expensive internet quota, e-learning disruption, lack of lecturer explanations, an environment that disrupts focus on learning, and economic problems

Abstract

Grafting is the combination of different plant parts so that they unite and experience growth and development as one new plant after the tissue can regenerate. This research carried out a grafting experiment between jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) and durian (Durio zibethinus), two different types of fruit belonging to the same taxon class, namely dicotyledon. Even though these two plants belong to the same class, significant genetic differences and different environmental factors are the main challenges in efforts to combine them through grafting. The research results showed that no development occurred in the grafted plants. The factors for failure of grafting are genetic differences, environmental factors, and techniques in plant grafting.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of grafting butter avocado scions onto local avocado rootstocks as a vegetative propagation method. This research was carried out for four weeks with equipment such as scissors, knives, and polybags used to carry out the grafting procedure, and careful monitoring was carried out to assess plant development. Although the first week showed little change, the fourth week showed promising shoot growth, indicating successful grafting. Existing challenges, including humidity and leaf discoloration, have been appropriately addressed. This study concludes that grafting is feasible for propagating local avocado plants if carried out carefully and adequately after grafting. Regular monitoring and careful maintenance are recommended to ensure optimal plant growth to improve avocado cultivation in productivity and fruit quality.
