Abstract

The increasing of requirement of domestic cement for a number of years will affect directly to usage of coal as especial fuel for cement production. So that Important to know the usage condition of coal yielding coal with superordinate calorivic value, with better economic value, and smaller negative impact to environment, where with slimmer usage amount of coal better yield coal with higher calorivic value because more and more amount of used coal also will improve the waste that able to influence environment. Have been researched water equilibrium of fine coal with aim to lessen the amount of fine coal usage for cement production process, because from data result of research got calorivic value which mounting of fine coal after done equilibrium of water content in fine coal. Fine coal sample before and after obstetrical equilibrium of its water is determined change of that calorivic value (Cal/g) use Bomb Calorimeter PARR 1261, content of water (%) use Moisture Analyzer, content of sulphur (%), and its dusty content. Result of which is got that after water equilibrium happened minimizing the mass of fine coal’s sample, after done the determination of water content happened minimizing of water content that is equal to 3.14% or happened minimizing that equal to 17% from water content before equilibrium. While for the calorivic value increase until 189 Cal/g or happened increase equal to 3% from calorivic value of sample before equilibrium, for sulphur and dusty content happened increase successively equal to 7% and 5% from content of sample before equilibrium.

Abstract

Scientific work is a form of scientific publication used by teachers to support the Sustainable Professional Program (PKB) that has been launched by the government to actualize the work of teachers as professional staff. Many teachers do not understand how to make a good and correct scientific work, even though scientific work is a mandatory requirement for teachers for the promotion process. The implementation of community service activities aims to provide workshops on scientific writing techniques for teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Dalam. The strategy used is through lecture, tutorial, and discussion methods and observation sheets to see the effectiveness of the methods used. The result of this dedication is that the teacher is able to understand the techniques of writing scientific papers well and correctly so that they are suitable for publication

Abstract

Fly ash is produced in the combustion process of coal in a factory. It can be used in the construction industry, particularly in cement and concrete production. Moreover, fly ash has been added as one of the materials in cement production due to composition similarities between fly ash and other raw materials. However, fly ash is not environmentally friendly as it contains inorganic compounds that are harmful to the environment. Therefore, it is important to know its properties and characterization for further research, advantages and disadvantages that follows. This study was focusing on the Ca, Cu, Mg and Si in fly ash as a byproduct of coal combustion. Based on the results, SiO2 and CaO levels consecutively are 21,17% and 0,65% indicated that fly ash can be added as one of the materials used in cement production. Furthermore, the toxic Cu and Mg in fly ash displayed its safety in the environment, in sequence are 0,02855ppm and 0,81825ppm.

Abstract

Kelapa sawit adalah salah satu komoditas andalan bagi Kabupaten Siak. Desa yang dibentuk berdasarkan sistem Perkebunan Inti Rakyat (PIR) PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V Sei Buatan yang bergerak di bidang industry kelapa sawit di Kabupaten Siak adalah Desa Teluk Merbau. Saat ini perkebunan kelapa sawit di Desa Teluk Merbau sedang melaksanakan proses replanting atau peremajaan, yang pada prosesnya akan menghasilkan limbah. Hingga saat ini tidak semua limbah hasil proses peremajaan telah mengalami pengolahan. Diantara limbah yang dihasilkan dan memiliki potensi untuk diolah adalah nira kelapa sawit. Dengan tahapan proses yang sederhana diharapkan nira kelapa sawit dapat menjadi alternatif bahan baku pembuatan gula merah selain kelapa atau aren. Hal ini akan sangat bermanfaat untuk daerah – daerah yang berada di sekitar perkebunan kelapa sawit dan jauh dari akses transportasi. Diharapkan juga setelah kegiatan pengabdian ini, masyarakat dapat menerapkan pengetahuan dan menambah pendapatan keluarga dengan usaha gula merah berbahan dasar nira kelapa sawit.

Abstract

Aktivitas utama pabrik kelapa sawit dimulai dari penanaman dan pemanenan pohon kelapa sawit, pengolahan tandan buah segar (TBS) menjadi minyak sawit (CPO) dan inti sawit (PK), hingga memprosesnya menjadi produk industri. Tanah dan tanaman merupakan dua hal yang sangat penting dalam bidang pertanian. Untuk menghasilkan buah kelapa sawit yang berkualitas tinggi, tanaman harus mempunyai unsur mineral yang cukup seperti unsur hara makro dan mikro. Sampel yang digunakan untuk analisis kandungan unsur kalsium (Ca), tembaga (Cu), kalium (K), dan magnesium (Mg) adalah daun kelapa sawit yang bersumber dari salah satu perkebunan kelapa sawit di daerah Riau. Hasil analisis kandungan unsur pada daun kelapa sawit yaitu unsur kalium (K) sebesar 1,64–2,16 ppm, unsur magnesium (Mg) sebesar 0,46–0,79 ppm, unsur kalsium (Ca) sebesar 1,51–2,11 ppm, dan unsur tembaga (Cu) sebesar 0,07–0,14 ppm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kandungan unsur yang terdapat pada daun kelapa sawit tersebut belum mencukupi untuk proses pertumbuhan kelapa sawit, karena kandungan unsur tersebut masih tergolong rendah. Sehingga untuk mengatasi defisiensi unsur hara tersebut, dilakukan pemulihan dengan penambahan pupuk pada tanaman. Hasil analisis unsur di atas dapat digunakan sebagai dasar pemilihan pupuk yang sesuai serta berapa kadar yang dibutuhkan yang harus diberikan pada tanaman kelapa sawit.
