Abstract Education in simple terms can be interpreted as an effort to shape human personality in accordance with the values and ethical codes contained in society and the state. One of the most important components in the learning process is educators and students. Along with the times, there has been a shift in the pattern of teacher-student relationships. Economic values have driven many policies, and students' appreciation of teachers has decreased, teachers' work is priced higher, and teachers' respect for them is lower. Given the urgency of the teacher's role in the educational process, many scholars write about the obligations, characteristics or duties that teachers and students must have. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a type of library research. The results of the research are limited to personal and professional aspects including: 1. Ethics of the teaching profession related to himself, namely asceticism, clean from sin and despicable traits. 2. Ethics of the teaching profession relating to students and fellow teachers, namely being wise and firm, forgiving and patient, having dignity and self-esteem, loving students as loving their own children, knowing the habits of students. 3. The ethics of the teaching profession are related to their duties, namely being sincere in work, having competence and mastering the field of study, being able to create active communication between teachers and students.
