Abstract

Article presented performance behaviour among high school teachers in Jakarta, especially in their roles as counsellor based on the government’s qualification and competences, especially in their empathy and persuasion. The research also wants to see the difference between male and female teachers’ behaviour as counsellor, so that the schools are more serious in selecting and developing their teacher counsellor. Using DISC assessment tool for 68 teachers, consisting of 14 male and 54 female teachers, it is indicated that 26,47% of them meet the government qualification, those are both empathy and persuasion qualifications. Empathy qualification is possessed by male and female teachers, even male teacher is more persuasive than male teacher who have dominant communication behaviour. In general, the research presents 13 behaviour styles.

Abstract

Paper discusses about problematic internet use on teenagers as Facebook users in West Jakarta. The objective of this study is to have empirical evidence about problematic internet use condition among teenagers as Facebook users in West Jakarta. This research is a descriptive study. Sample of this study was 82 high school students in West Jakarta. They were given GPIUS2 questionnaire constructed by Caplan. Result of the study is most of the teenagers have low score on problematic internet use especially in Facebook usage. The result is supported by the passiveness of Facebook online activity among the teenagers. However, there was a positive significant correlation between problematic internet use (PIU) and teenagers’ feeling when their smartphone was left behind at home. It means they could not access their Facebook account for some time. This result is important for parents and educators to consider, given that Facebook has both positive and negative effect for teenagers.

Abstract

This study is a preliminary study about social networking and text relationship among young adulthood. The purpose of this study is to get information or description about text relationship through social networking. Method of this study is qualitative method with phenomenology approach. The phenomenon of using social networking to build relationship with others is growing popular especially among young adulthood. Observing this phenomenon accurately, there is a changing in interaction pattern. It was a physically interaction or face to face interaction. But as growing popularity of technology or internet access, today interaction can do through online and without face to face interaction. Surprisingly, this online interaction and without face to face interaction is very popular at the present. From this preliminary study, the findings are social networking become a media to share emotion, opinion openly among people. Text relationship through social networking also need emotional setting which is substituted electronically and it is virtual emotional and not the real emotional. Social networking still give a chance to people to gather face to face, not only virtual gathering.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan analisa profi l hope pada atlet bulutangkis Indonesia yang meraih prestasi juara dunia. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa hope memiliki relasi yang positif dengan beragam hal seperti olahraga, akademik, kesehatan fisik, penyesuaian psikologis, dan psikoterapi. Partisipan terdiri atas atlet yang pernah bertanding para era 1970 dan 1990. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisa interpretasi fenomenologi. Sembilan keterampilan mental atlet digunakan sebagai panduan dalam wawancara semi-terstruktur. Transkrip wawancara kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan komponen hope. Hope terdiri atas tiga komponen yaitu: tujuan, jalan (pathways) dan agency thinking. Hasil analisis dari pengalaman partisipan menunjukkan sembilan tema utama, yaitu: sikap, motivasi, tujuan dan komitmen, keterampilan antarpersonal, self-talk, pembayangan mental, pengelolaan kecemasan, pengelolaan emosi, dan konsentrasi. Tema-tema tersebut selaras dengan karakteristik orang yang memiliki hope tinggi.

The present study analyzed a profiling of hope of Indonesian badminton athletes with international achievements. Previous studies have shown that hope was positively related to various outcomes such as sports, academics, physical health, psychological adjustment, and psychotherapy. The participants were consisted of athletes used to play between 70?s and 90?s. This study utilized a qualitative approach with interpretative phenomenological analysis. Nine mental skills of athletes were used as a guideline of semi-structured interview. The verbatim of interview then was analyzed with hope components. Hope was constructed by three components: goals, pathways, and agency thinking. The analysis of participants? experience showed nine major themes that are: attitude, motivation, goals and commitment, people skills, self-talk, mental imagery, managing anxiety, managing emotion, and concentration, with twelve subordinates themes. These themes are similar with high-hope people?s characteristics.

Abstract

The study aimed to explore the relationship between dispositional gratitude and social comparison orientation among social media users. The present study used a non-experimental research design with a quantitative approach with survey technique by distributing questionnaires to 296 Bina Nusantara University students aged 18-24 who used social media. The correlation between dispositional gratitude and social comparison orientation was calculated by Spearman correlation technique. The result shows that dispositional gratitude and social comparison orientation have a significant negative correlation.

Abstract

Injil Matius ditujukan bagi komunitas yang tengah mengalami krisis yang sangat hebat. Dalam merespons situasi tersebut, penulis injil menuliskan peraturan komunitas (Gemeindeordnung), yang tertulis dalam Matius 18. Hal yang menarik dari peraturan tersebut adalah, Matius mengawali tulisannya dengan mengangkat kisah Yesus yang menempatkan seorang anak kecil (Mat.18:2). Kisah ini menjadi sebuah kisah yang sangat fenomenal mengingat pada masa itu anak kecil adalah kelompok masyarakat yang rendah dan dianggap tidak begitu penting. Dari kisah yang menarik dan fenomenal ini memunculkan pertanyaan: Mengapa Yesus menggunakan anak kecil? Sejumlah penafsir menyimpulkan bahwa itu adalah semacam simbol. Penafsir lain menyatakan bahwa itu merupakan semacam model. Namun demikian, ada sejumlah penafsir yang menyimpulkan dengan sangat berbeda namun menarik yaitu bahwa penggunaan anak kecil ini adalah terkait dengan masa lalu. Sayangnya penjelasan mengenai pendekatan “masa lalu” yang digunakan oleh Yesus ini belum diuraikan lebih jauh. Melalui tulisan ini, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa Yesus sedang menggunakan sebuah pendekatan pastoral yaitu nostalgia. Dengan memanfaatkan sejumlah penelitian empiris dalam penelitian psikologi, penulis menilai bahwa penggunaan anak kecil adalah agar para murid dapat kembali kepada masa lalu mereka yang penuh dengan narasi penyertaan Allah, baik kepada para leluhur mereka maupun kepada diri mereka sendiri. Sebagai komunitas yang tengah mengalami krisis, pendekatan ini diharapkan akan menghadirkan harapan. Tema utama Injil Matius - Allah Bersama Kita - dan penelitian empiris tentang nostalgia dalam psikologi akan digunakan sebagai bingkai kerja penafsiran.
