Abstract

The proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus Wurmb.) is an endemic primate of Borneo belonging to the family Cercophitecidae and sub-family Colobinae. This primate belongs to the group of protected animals. The Mangrove Forest Ecotourism Area of Sebubus Village is one of the proboscis monkey habitats in West Kalimantan. This study aims to obtain data on the vegetation characteristics of the proboscis monkey habitat which will provide an overview of the food sources, shelters and beds of proboscis monkeys in their natural habitat. The method used in this study is a survey method, while data collection is done by using a plotted path technique. The number of paths observed were five lanes with a length of each lane of 350 meters. Based on the results of the study found 24 types of plants, 4 of which are sleeping trees and 7 are proboscis monkey feed. Rhizophora apiculata is a type of proboscis monkey that has the highest INP value. The sleeping proboscis tree has a characteristic that is a tree that grows upright, stems clean from lianas, has a large tree diameter, has no sap, is monopodial, is not deformed, orthotropic, has flat branches and has an attims and champagnat's architecture. The types of plants that are the source of proboscis monkey's food are young leaves or shoots, have broad leaves, smooth and smooth leaf surfaces, not thorny and have thick leaf flesh, light green to dark green. Air temperature ranges from 26℃ - 34.8℃ and humidity 55% - 89%.Keywords: Habitat, Mangrove Forest, Proboscis Monkey, Sebubus Village, Vegetation Characteristics.

Abstract

Nepenthes is an unique ornamental plant that have various benefits and high aesthetic value. This species is a protected species. West Kalimantan is one of the nepenthes distribution habitats. This research was conducted in the Forest Areas with Special Purpose (KHDTK) Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN), Landak Regency. The purpose of this study is to obtain the data of Nepenthes species diversity on the conditions in which peat swamp forests and kerangas forests grow in and around the KHDTK UNTAN. The method used are survey method with a sampling technique using a double plot with a size of 2m x 2m. The results showed that there were 3 types of Nepenthes found; N. ampullaria Jack, N. mirabilis Druce and N. rafflesiana Jack. Nepenthes species diversity in both habitats is low, in peat swamp forest the value of Nepenthes species diversity is 0,198 and in kerangas forest value is 0,035.Keywords: Nepenthes, Species Diversity, Habitat, Peat Swamp, Kerangas
