Abstract

Ukrainian and Russian War had a significant impact on the European economy, food, and energy. As one of the strategy to stop the war, the Western had imposed several sanctions on Russia that raised critical questions on whether or not this sanction is an appropriate and effective measure that should be pursued. Reflecting on history, economic weapons through economic sanctions are often ineffective against big countries that do have resilience. Not only that, the view that sanctions will suppress aggressive actions when material interests are disturbed is not always an appropriate case considering that countries and their leaders, especially autocratic ones, have other priorities. Through this articles, we’re going to discuss how the turmoil of Europe’s economy, food and energy stability may affect Western decisions to end their sanction to Russia. We concludes that the West, especially Europe, has no other way but to negotiate with Russia to carry out a ceasefire and negotiations regarding gas & oil supplies and in turns will end Western sanction to Russia gradually.

Abstract

Women's roles in terrorist groups can vary depending on the specific organization, ideology, and cultural context. While traditionally women have been viewed as passive participants or solely confined to support roles, there has been a growing recognition of their active and diverse involvement in extremist activities. This study highlights the importance of understanding the roles women play within terrorist groups and their impact on operational strategies. By considering gender dynamics, intelligence analysis becomes more accurate and comprehensive. Gender-sensitive analysis helps uncover hidden or underestimated threats. Terrorist organizations and extremist movements may exploit gender norms and expectations to recruit, radicalize, and mobilize individuals. Acknowledging how gender influences recruitment strategies and identifying the unique vulnerabilities of certain groups, can help identify potential threats that might otherwise go unnoticed. This also benefits intelligence analysis as it can better inform preventive measures, protect vulnerable populations, and address the diverse needs and experiences of individuals affected by terrorism. This study aims to contribute to a broader discussion on gender perspectives in counterterrorism efforts and strategic intelligence analysis. It emphasizes the need for gender-sensitive intelligence analysis to enhance prevention and mitigation strategies in the field of counterterrorism and intelligence, ultimately aiming to enhance counterterrorism policies and practices.

Abstract

After the Covid-19 pandemic ended, there were changes in Indonesian immigration. The addition of visa on arrival subjects and the temporary suspension of visa-free visits is one way to restore the national economy. This research examines the impact of the visa on arrival policy on national security and analyzes whether this policy is still effective in the current era. This research uses a qualitative research type with literature study. From this research, the results show that immigration violations and the threat of transnational crime are still widespread after the latest visa on arrival policy was implemented, and in the current era, especially after the pandemic, there is a need for a capable system to provide immigration services as well as improve better security so that it can reduce threats and risks from violations committed by foreign nationals. The newly implemented e-VOA can be an effective innovation used in the current era to later replace manual VOA requests.
