Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the role of parenting style in building entrepreneurial character in children. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The subjects in this study were 4 students who were entrepreneurs. The data collection technique used was interviews and observation. Based on the research that has been done, it shows that of the four parenting styles, namely authoritarian, authoritative, permissive , and neglectful. Authoritative parenting plays a major role in shaping the character of entrepreneurship in the subject. Entrepreneurial character is formed from authoritative parenting, namely honesty, consistency, never giving up, not making hasty decisions, setting prices according to standards, maintaining product quality, maintaining good manners, maintaining relationships with customers, working hard, and being disciplined. Keywoard: Parenting style, character, entrepreneurship ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran pola asuh orang tua dalam membangun karakter entrepreneurship pada anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 4 orang mahasiswa yang berwirausaha. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan observasi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat gaya pola asuh yaitu authoritarian (otoriter), authoritative (otoritatif), permissive (permisif), dan neglectful (abai). Pola asuh otoritatif lah yang paling berperan dalam membentuk karakter entrepreneurship pada subjek. Karakter entrepreneurship yang terbentuk dari pola asuh otoritatif yaitu jujur, konsisten, pantang menyerah, tidak boleh mengambil keputusan tergesa- gesa, menetapkan harga sesuai standar, menjaga kualitas produk, menjaga tata krama, menjaga relasi dengan pelanggan, bekerja keras, dan disiplin.  Kata Kunci: pola asuh orang tua, karakter, entrepreneurship

Abstract

This study intend to describe the hard working of settled foreigner who is entrepreneur and builds a business from the beginning to be able to develop his business until now. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach with using milles and huberman’s data analysis techniques was chosen as the research method because it’s in accordance with the research purposes. Data collection uses in-depth interviews with an overseas entrepreneur who has been abroad for more ten years and have a business for two years selected based on the purposive sampling. In this study found 15 sub-themes related to hard working that is decision to leave, business decision, never give up, see opportunity. Hard work, believe in ability, willingness to learn, like challenges, flexible, take into account risk, commitment, parental role and employee loyalty
