Abstract

Twenty first century education promotes the use of communication technology in learning. Electronic teaching materials are the application of communication technology in learning activities. However, the application of electronic teaching materials in the independent curriculum were still limited. The solution that can be done was to do a preliminary study. Preliminary study need to be carried out to analyze learning problems, students, learning objectives, and learning settings. This type of research is descriptive research. Data obtained using instruments in the form of interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis. Based on data analysis, it can be stated that there are four results of this study. First, the problems experienced by teachers are designing content and variations in thinking skills in the sufficient category, enriching learning experiences using teaching materials in the sufficient category, adequacy and equitable evaluation of learning in the sufficient category. Second, the characteristics of students on global warming material are generally good. Third, the results of the analysis of learning objectives show competence in the appropriate category, content in the appropriate category, variations in the very appropriate category, and operational verb in the sufficient category. Fourth, the results of the analysis of learning settings are in the inappropriate category. Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a basis for developing electronic teaching materials according to the independent curriculum.

Abstract

Teaching materials are needed in learning to deliver information systematically to students in order to achieve the expected competencies. The real condition in the field show that the use of teaching materials based on certain learning models were still limited. For this reason, this research was conducted to analyze the effect size of the use of guided inquiry-based physics and science teaching materials on students’ competence. The research method used is meta-analysis based on effect size with research subjects, namely 20 national and international articles. The results showed that the use of guided inquiry-based physics and science teaching materials was effective in increasing the competence of students at the junior high school level with a very high effect size. In addition, the use of guided inquiry-based physics and science teaching materials on teaching materials in the form of modules and textbooks gives a very high effect size and student worksheet and videos gives a high effect size. The use of guided inquiry-based physics and science teaching materials is effective in increasing the competence of students on cognitive learning outcomes with a very high effect size, on critical thinking skills, HOTS, conceptual understanding, and metacognitive abilities giving a high effect size, and on generic science skills gives a moderate effect size.

Abstract

Conceptual understanding and scientific literacy of science are important part for students. Through a good understanding of scientific concepts and literacy, it is easier for students to learn new material and solve the problems they face. The purpose of this research is to improve students' learning Literacy through E-teaching materials with the context of Social-Scientific Issue (SSI). The research method used is Classroom Action Research with the Kemmis and Mc Taggart action research model. The research was conducted at SMA N 3 Padang in March 2023. The research subjects were students of class X E 3 in the 2022/2023 academic year with a total of 35 students. Data collection techniques in this study were observation and tests. Data analysis techniques in quantitative and qualitative descriptive research. The results of classroom action research were carried out in 2 cycles with the stages of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The use of the e-learning material in the context of Social-Scientific Issue (SSI) can improve students' ability to understand concepts and scientific literacy skills on Renewable Energy material. Therefore, e-teaching material can be used by physics teachers to improve the students’ conceptual understanding and scientific literacy.

Abstract

The skills of a student are needed to achieve success in learning and everyday life. However, their skills were still low. Solution to solve this problem is to apply an inquiry learning model during learning. This research aims to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model on students' science process skills and critical thinking which is reviewed based on the level of education, subject matter and type of inquiry learning model. This type of research is a meta-analysis. Meta-analysis is research conducted by summarizing research data, reviewing and analyzing research data from several pre-existing research results. The articles of this research consisted of 20 articles that already had an ISSN. The instruments used were category codes and effect size calculations. The steps of meta analysis are conducting a literature review, collecting data, researching and assessing articles, analyzing and interpreting articles and compiling report results. The data analysis technique in this study is to calculate the magnitude of the effect using the   formula (1981) based on the mean, standard deviation, and t-test. From the data analysis carried out, it can be stated that four research results. First, the application of the inquiry learning model has a significant effect on science process skills and critical thinking skills based on level education, learning materials, and types of inquiry learning model.
