Abstract

Until now, environmental-based diseases (EBD) are still a danger to the community, including respiratory tract infection (RTI) and diarrhea. RTI and diarrhea can be experienced by anyone, from infants to adults. Other diseases caused by the environment, namely, malaria, chikungunya, dengue fever, filariasis and so on. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase public awareness in Ngayub Village, Manyeuw District, Southeast Maluku Regency about the importance of maintaining a clean environment and clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), through counseling and social services. The methods used in implementing community service are Focus Group Discussion (FGD), counseling, and community service as well as planting protected trees. The results of community service activities regarding FGDs found that people still throw garbage everywhere, as many as 70% of houses do not have sewerage (SPAL), there is a lack of clean water sources so that people have to buy clean water through water tanks and collect rainwater for used as clean water to meet daily needs. Lack of clean water sources, littering everywhere, and no SPAL in every house can cause environmental-based diseases. So the community service team provided counseling on the importance of keeping the environment clean to prevent PBL which was attended by 85% of the community, joint community service and planting of protected trees attended by 85% of the people of Ngayub Village.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia until 2018 is still high at around 305/100,000 KH. Likewise the MMR in Maluku Province is 52/100,000 KH. There are various factors that cause maternal death, one of which is education and counseling by health workers at first level health facilities (FKTP), especially by nurses as the front line in public health services that are not optimal. This study aims to identify the relationship between the role of nurses as educators and as counselors in efforts to prevent maternal mortality in the coastal community of the Rumaat Public Health Center, Southeast Maluku Regency using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was total sampling, namely all nurses at the Rumaat Health Center, totaling 39 people. The results showed that the role of nurses as educators and counselors had a significant relationship with the prevention of maternal death in the coastal community of the Rumaat Health Center, Southeast Maluku Regency (p<0.05). This shows that nurses play a role in preventing maternal death at the Rumaat Health Center in Southeast Maluku Regency through their role as educators and counselors. To maintain and improve the welfare of pregnant women in the working area of ​​the Rumaat Health Center, nurses at the Rumaat Health Center in Southeast Maluku Regency must continue to provide education to pregnant women about the importance of nutritional intake, antenatal checks, rest and a healthy lifestyle to avoid danger during pregnancy followed by giving praise on the decision of pregnant women to carry out regular prenatal checks, listen to complaints, and provide support, as well as accompany mothers and families who have health problems to overcome their problems.

Abstract

Background: Breast and cervical cancer is the largest contributor of all types of cancer in women. The second order cancer is cervical cancer. Early detection of Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and immediate action if a positive VIA is found through cryotherapy is an attempt to prevent the morbidity and mortality of cervical cancer. Purpose: evaluation of the results of the IVA examination and management at the Talise Health Center in Palu City. Method: Descriptive research (expatory research) restropektif. The sample number of 678 Women of Childbearing Age who underwent VIA examinations at the Talise Health Center in 2019 to 2021. Univariate analysis uses frequency and percentage distributions. Results: 2019 data on VIA examinations amounted to 474(70%) , VIA negative 461 (68%), VIA positive 13 (2%) and treatment with Cryotherapy. In 2020 the number of IVA checks decreased to 70 people (10%), VIA positive 0% while in 2021 VIA 134 (20%) and VIA positive 0%. Conclusion: VIA examination can be done to detect early cervical cancer, treatment with cryotherapy that can prevent cervical cancer morbidity.
