Abstract

Background: The SARS-Cov-2 virus pandemic has infected more than 6.8 million people and caused the deaths of more than 362,000 worldwide. The implementation of the PSBB regulations has proven effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19 but there has been a decrease in the use of health services by the community. Objective: to examine the use of family planning services by women of childbearing age during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Literature review research using 15 research articles consisting of 10 national research articles and 5 international research articles. Results: During the COVID-19 pandemic, 7 million unwanted births occurred due to a decrease in the use of health services by family planning acceptors. During this period there was also an increase in condom users, while IUD/IUD users tended to decrease. Even though the effectiveness of IUDs/IUDs in preventing pregnancy is higher than condoms. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic increases the rate of unwanted pregnancies. Providing education has been proven to be effective in increasing the knowledge of women of childbearing age in meeting their needs for family planning services. It is recommended that efforts be made to increase knowledge of women of childbearing age about alternative access to family planning services that do not increase the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
