Abstract

The need for pavement materials in Central Kalimantan is increasing along with the many developments in road infrastructure. Therefore, it is necessary to find natural resources around. Tumbang Liting Village, Katingan Hilir Sub-district, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan Province has abundant natural resources in the form of stone and sand resulting from local mining waste and has not been utilised properly. Stone from Tumbang Liting Village has a grain size of 5-25 mm with a surface that tends not to be angular. The research was conducted to analyse the use of stone and sand from Tumbang Liting Village as aggregates in Hot Rolled Sheet Base (HRS-Base) mixes. It is expected that the stone and sand from Tumbang Liting Village can be a solution to the need for HRS-Base pavement materials in Central Kalimantan, especially in the surrounding areas. The research was conducted in the laboratory, examining the physical properties of the aggregate to Marshall testing. The calculation results of the Marshall test obtained Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) of 7.27%, Stability of 850.90 kg, Voids Between Aggregates (VMA) of 20.08%, Voids in the Mixture (VIM) of 4.28%, Voids Filled with Asphalt (VFA) of 78.90% and Marshall Quotient (MQ) of 265.00 kg/mm.

Abstract

Central Kalimantan Province generally brings in materials from outside the region, such as Crushed Stone (Ex. Merak) for the need for pavement materials. This research determined the quality of gold mining waste materials in stone and sand from Tumbang Liting Village combined with Crushed Stone (Ex. Merak) as a mixture on Hot Rolled Sheet-Base (HRS-Base) pavement. From the results of Marshall testing and calculations, the Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) value of 6.84%, Stability of 920.00 kg, Voids Between Aggregates (VMA) of 18.94%, Voids In The Mixture (VIM) of 4.00%, Voids Filled With Asphalt (VFA) of 78.90% and Marshall Quotient (MQ) of 260.00 kg/mm were obtained. The value of Marshall's characteristics shows that the use of gold mining waste material in stone and sand from Tumbang Liting Village has met the requirements for HRS-Base pavement so that the material can be used. ABSTRAK Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah umumnya mendatangkan material dari luar daerah seperti halnya Batu Pecah Eks.Merak untuk kebutuhan akan material perkerasan jalan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kualitas penggunaan material limbah tambang emas berupa batu dan pasir dari Desa Tumbang Liting yang dikombinasikan dengan Batu Pecah Eks.Merak sebagai campuran pada perkerasan Hot Rolled Sheet-Base (HRS-Base). Dari hasil pengujian Marshall dan perhitungan didapat nilai Kadar Aspal Optimum (KAO) sebesar 6,84%, Stabilitas sebesar 920,00 kg, Rongga Antar Agregat (VMA) sebesar 18,94%, Rongga Dalam Campuran (VIM) sebesar 4,00%, Rongga Terisi Aspal (VFA) sebesar 78,90% dan Hasil Bagi Marshall (MQ) sebesar 260,00 kg/mm. Nilai karakteristik Marshall tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan material limbah tambang emas berupa batu dan pasir dari Desa Tumbang Liting telah memenuhi spesifikasi pada perkerasan HRS-Base, sehingga material dapat digunakan.
