Abstract

Abstract. The development of the cocrystallization method is an effort to solve the problem of solubility of active pharmaceutical substances that are difficult to dissolve in water. The purpose of the study was to determine the formation of mefenamic acid cocrystals (MFA) by melting point screening. Cocrystallization uses nicotinamide coformer (NCT) with solvent drop grinding (SDG) method and ethanol p.a as solvent. Melting point screening using a melting point apparatus (MPA) is performed to determine the newly formed cocrystals. Melting point screening results of cocrystal MFA-NCT ratio ratio (1:1); (2:1); and (1:2) using the SDG method each is 164°C; 184°C; and 159°C and the most optimal cocrystal formation, MFA-NCT cocrystal (1:2). Abstrak. Pengembangan metode kokristalisasi merupakan upaya dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan kelarutan zat aktif farmasi yang sulit larut dalam air. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui terbentuknya kokristal asam mefenamat (MFA) dengan skrining titik leleh. Kokristalisasi menggunakan koformer nikotinamida (NCT) dengan metode solvent drop grinding (SDG) dan etanol p.a sebagai pelarut. Skrining titik leleh menggunakan melting point apparatus (MPA) dilakukan untuk mengetahui kokristal yang baru terbentuk. Hasil skrining titik leleh dari kokristal MFA-NCT rasio perbandingan (1:1); (2:1); dan (1:2) menggunakan metode SDG masing-masing adalah 164°C; 184°C; dan 159°C serta pembentukan kokristal paling optimal yaitu kokristal MFA-NCT (1:2).
