Abstract

A brand is a form of intellectual work that is used to differentiate goods and services produced by an individual company with the intention of showing the characteristics and origin of the goods. The importance of a brand in anticipation of the possibility of violating another party's brand, increasing competitiveness and market share in the commercialization of intellectual property, can be used as material for consideration in determining research, business and industrial strategies. In this activity, it includes an overview of brand assembly, how the procedure for registering a brand is, what the level of public awareness, and solutions to increase public awareness regarding the importance of the brand. MSMEs are quite enthusiastic in participating in the series of activities that we have created through socialization activities, consulting services and assistance with trademark registration, as well as distribution of DJKI books. The location of the activity was carried out in one of the restaurants on the border of Surabaya City and Sidoarjo City, this choice was based on ease of access for MSME participants from both cities. It is hoped that this activity will become a routine agenda for DJKI by collaborating with academics, both lecturers and students so that it will have a wider impact on the community, especially MSMEs, to manage trademarks so as to increase the market share of the products produced. Abstrak Merek merupakan salah satu wujud karya intelektual yang digunakan untuk membedakan barang dan jasa yang diproduksi oleh perusahaan perseorangan dengan maksud untuk menunjukan ciri khas dan asal usul barang. Pentingnya merek untuk antisipasi kemungkinan melanggar merek pihak lain, meningkatkan daya kompetisi dan pangsa pasar dalam komersialisasi kekayaan intelektual, dapat dijadikan bahan pertimbangan dalam penentuan strategi penelitian, usaha dan industri. Dalam kegiatan ini, mencakup mengenai gambaran umum terkait merek, bagaimana prosedur pendaftaran merek, bagaimana tingkat kesadaran masyarakat terhadap merek, dan solusi untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terkait pentingnya merek. UMKM cukup antusias dalam mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan yang telah kami buat melalui kegiatan sosialisasi, layanan konsultasi dan pendampingan pendaftaran merek, serta pembagian buku DJKI. Lokasi kegiatan dilaksanakan di salah satu rumah makan yang ada di perbatasan Kota Surabaya dengan Kota Sidoarjo, pemilihan ini didasarkan kemudahan akses bagi peserta UMKM dari kedua Kota. Diharapkan kegiatan ini menjadi agenda rutin bagi DJKI dengan menggandeng pihak akademisi, baik dosen maupun mahasiswa sehingga memberikan dampak yang meluas bagi masyarakat khususnya UMKM untuk mengurus merek dagang sehingga memperbesar pangsa pasar produk yang dihasilkan.
