Abstract

Establishing a virtuous man is one of the aspect of national education objectives as stated in Law No. 20 of 2003, in Chapter II, Article 3 which explains that "national education is functioning to develop the ability and form the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the life of the nation, aims for the development of noble character. Character education has been applied through religious education. The purpose of this study are: (a) to know how the relevance of Islamic learning to the mind in SMAN 3 Jombang, and (b) to know how the process of cultivating the values ​​of character in SMAN 3 Jombang?. This research is a qualitative research model, with case study approach (case study). The location of this study took at one of the schools located in Jombang namely SMAN 3 Jombang. This research get some findings or results, namely: (a) Relevance of religious learning in SMAN 3 Jombang against manners is that the study of religion is the basic foundation to be a guide in life and it is reflected in the values ​​of manners that have been implanted among them; manners, tolerance, discipline, awareness of obligatory worship and sunnah, courtesy of teachers and caring, keeping the cleanliness and beauty of the school; (b) The process of cultivating the values ​​of character in SMAN 3 Jombang is done through religious learning process that includes reading, identifying, discussing, interpreting, and practicing activities. Besides the approach of religious learning is done by using faith approach, morals, psychological, sociological, philosophical (reasoning) and religious learning materials include several aspects, among the aspects of faith, Islamic laws, morals are neatly arranged in the lesson plan and learning syllabus. While the method of religious learning used is a lecture model, question and answer, discussion, and inquiry. Abstract

Educational supervision is all assistance from the headmaster of madrasa aimed at the development of teachers and other school personnel in achieving educational goals, it is in the form of encouragement, guidance, and opportunities for the growth of the skills and abilities of teachers. Based on this, this study aims to determine the implementation of educational supervision in improving the quality of learning in MAN 3 Kediri. The method used in data collection is observation, interview and documentation, while the data analysis technique uses a descriptive qualitative research approach, which is interpreted through descriptive explanations as a conclusion about supervision in improving the quality of learning. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) Implementation of educational supervision is carried out by compiling a program involving all citizens and overall, conducting upgrading through class visits, class observations, MGMP with mutual visits, training/workshops, evaluation and follow-up; (2). Improving the quality of learning through collaboration with teachers in strengthening the curriculum and developing learning tools, providing learning resources, tools and various teaching and learning facilities; (3) Implementation of educational supervision in improving the quality of learning through guidance and curriculum development, improving teaching and learning processes, and efforts to enhance the quality of teachers through coaching and up grading; (4) Obstacles to the Implementation of educational supervision in improving the quality of learning, namely: some teachers have not been able to deliver the material well, impromptu activities, facilities and infrastructure are damaged, coaching is often done on holidays. While the supporting factors are as follows: guidance on the content and concepts of curriculum thinking, internet facilities, madrasa books, socialization, certified teachers, adequate facilities and infrastructure in carrying out the teaching and learning process
