Abstract

Seed gardens are one way to obtain quality seeds. Seed gardens are areas where certainplants are planted to produce seeds of superior genetic origin. The seed garden of TheUniversity of Palangkaraya in maintaining red meranti (Shorea leprosula Miq) plantsencountered several obstacles, one of which was pests and diseases. Identification of pestand disease attacks is basically the beginning to find out a plant needs special care orattention to improve the quality of the plant itself. This study aims to identify anddetermine the intensity of pest and disease attacks on red meranti (Shorea leprosula Miq)in the seed garden area of The University of Palangka Raya. Collecting data using thecircle plot method, a systematic random sampling technique. Based on the research, it wasfound that the types of pests and diseases that attack red meranti are fire caterpillar(Setothosea asigna), beetle (Mecynorrhina sp), leaf spot (Curvularia sp and Nigrosporasp). The frequency of pest attack is 7.52% and the intensity of attack is 0.75%, with acombination frequency of 1.50% and an attack intensity of 0.45%.Keywords: identification, pests, diseases, seed garden

Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of the Eucalyptus health index (Eucalyptus urograndis) and to determine the supporting factors that affect the severity of Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus urograndis) damage. The research method used was Forest Health Monitoring (FHM). The results obtained were the part that had the highest amount of damage was found in the leaves with a percentage of 96.39% damage caused by pests and diseases. The worst part is the next part of the branch with a percentage of 2.66% where the branch is broken due to strong winds. The lowest part of the damage was found in the lower and upper stems which experienced stunted growth (stunted) with a percentage of damage of 0.95%. The cause is due to lack of nutrients and low water absorption, which causes plants to become stunted or experience stunted growth. The value of the eucalyptus health index at PT Industrial Forest Plantation (IFP) is still classified in the healthy class where the average value of the damaging weight is less than 5

Abstract

The social forestry enterprise group of stingless bee farming is a group that utilizes stingless bees for cultivation and already has a product, which is honey. The community managing the social forestry land is Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The research aims to determine the potential and economic value, as well as the factors influencing the productivity of stingless bee honey. The research method used is qualitative descriptive method. The stingless bee farming enterprise in Tuwung Village produces 40 liters of honey from 33 hives, where the potential for stingless bee cultivation is still suboptimal. The economic value, as the income from honey sales in one year, amounts to Rp 10,000,000. The honey produced during one year totals 40 liters with a selling price of Rp 250,000 per liter, resulting in the income of this enterprise group still being suboptimal or relatively low.

Abstract

Nyaru Menteng Urban Forest is ±100 hectares of Others Use Area (APL) and information on its biodiversity is limited. This study aims to assess biodiversity and forest conditions. Flora data were collected using the quadrat transect method and fauna data using a combination of Visual Encounter Survey and Point Count methods. The species composition of the flora is no less than 20 species, dominated by the Dipterocarpaceae family with density of seedling 6,170 individuals/ha, saplings 1,472 individuals/ha, poles 330 individuals/ha, and trees 224 individuals/ha indicating sufficient natural regeneration and forming an inverted J curve. The highest IVIs were Combretocarpus rotundatus, Shorea balangeran, Cratoxylon glaucum, Campnosperma coriaceum, and Palaquium leiocarpum. Flora biodiversity shows high species diversity, high species richness, low species dominance, and almost even species distribution. Fauna species composition is 45 species with 6 species of mammals, 25 species of avifauna, 7 species of herpetofauna, and 7 species of insects. Faunal biodiversity showed moderate species diversity, low species dominance, low species richness (except avifauna), and moderate species evenness. It can be concluded that Nyaru Menteng Urban Forest is very worthy of being maintained as an exotic and unique peat swamp forest, because it has high biodiversity with abundant natural regeneration, good individual species evenness, stability and balance of the forest ecosystem
