Abstract

The widespread use of slang among the younger generation such as teenagers, which can be sourced from various environmental conditions as well as additional media such as mobile phones, television, radio, youth magazines, and internet networks that make it easy to communicate through social media networks that are increasingly rampant in this day and age. This resulted in the easy distribution of new, unique vocabularies or a pun on Indonesian vocabulary in accordance with the General Indonesian Spelling Guidelines (PUEBI). The important element is that in using slang we need to be able to pay attention to it, because the use of slang must be in accordance with the place, situation, condition, and who we are talking to. For this reason, it is necessary to get into the habit of placing oneself, and always complying with the language norms that apply in Indonesia, and not forgetting to use Indonesian which is our national language. The purpose of this study is to find out what are the impacts of applying slang in everyday life to the existing Indonesian language, whether it is positive or otherwise. The research method used is qualitative with interviews related to the impact of slang with several sources, especially young people. The results say that if it is not considered properly and processed, then slang can have a bad effect on our Indonesian because most children find it difficult to get used to good Indonesian. But if it is considered and adjusted to the situation and conditions, this influence can be overcome.   Keywords: language, slang, young generation

Abstract

Mother tongue is the first language acquired by children from the surrounding environment. Because it is the language that children initially acquire and use to communicate with their environment, and the growth of knowledge, experience and communication are all greatly influenced by language as a component of their daily lives. Being the language that applies in the country, Indonesian is used in all official processes, including the learning process. This makes learning Indonesian much more difficult and allows for language mixing due to the influence of the mother tongue. Therefore, in this article we will discuss the influence of the mother tongue. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Not only students participate in language mixing events, but also teachers. The mother tongue has been ingrained in students since childhood. This incident occurred when Indonesian was used as a substitute for the mother tongue, which naturally and spontaneously combined the two languages. And as a result, the structure of the Indonesian language becomes damaged. Keywords: child, mother tongue, comunication
