Abstract

The density and magnetic properties of barium ferrite from BaFe12O19 Nanoparticles prepared by microemulsion method have been studied by comparing with the properties of micro-scaled BaFe12O19 prepared by metallurgical method. The preceding preparation consists of emulsification process, mixing, aging, centrifuging/separation, drying, grinding, and calcination at temperature of 900 oC, which brings on  the BaFe12O19 nanoparticles powder as its final product. Then, the obtained powders have been formed at compaction pressure of 200 Kg/cm2 and sintered at temperature of 1100 oC. The indications of formed BaFe12O19 nanoparticles have been confirmed via XRD and TEM testings which their dimension sizes are under 100 nm. Based on density measurements, the density of barium ferrite prepared by microemulsion method is higher than that of by metalurgical method (i.e. 5,3 gr/ml). While, the permagraph examinations have indicated that both remanence magnetic induction (2.49 kOe) and maximum energy product values (0.47 MGOe) of barium ferrite prepared by microemulsion method are higher about 1.22 and 1.47 times, respectively.

Abstract

The addition of MnO2 in synthesis of barium ferrite magnet were prepared by powder metallurgy method with variation formula of MnO2 0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.5% and 1% sintered at 1175 ºC. Material characterization includes X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and permagraph were employed to investigate the effect of MnO2 addition to magnetic properties and sample density. Hysteresis curve using permagraph showed that the addition of MnO2 have an effect on the increasing of magnetic properties and density. Remanence induction (Br), coercivity (Hc) and density (ρ) reached the maximum value of 1.36 kG, 2.757 kOe and 4.29 g/cm3  respectively  on different formula MnO2. The best value of MnO2 addition could be concluded on the addition MnO2 of 0.3% with Br = 1.36 kG, Hc = 2.683 kOe, and ρ = 4.29 g/cm3. The XRD results showed the formed of barium ferrite phase in the sintered sample at 1175ºC. While the SEM result revealed that the addition of MnO2 affected the density of barium ferrite particles.

Abstract

Hasil-hasil penelitian glasir Balai Besar Keramik akan dikaji dalam kaitannya dengan permasalahan di industri keramik di Indonesia. Kajian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi perkembangan penelitian glasir di Balai Besar Keramik (BBK) dalam keterkaitannya dengan topik yang diangkat dan permasalahan di industri keramik Indonesia. Perkembangan penelitian akan dikaji dalam rentang waktu 5 tahunan sesuai topiknya. Isu-isu industri juga diklasifikasikan kedalam 5 topik isu, yakni: bahan baku, teknologi proses, mutu produk, inovasi produk, dan lingkungan. Sampel data diambil dari penelitian-penelitian glasir mulai tahun 1992 hingga 2016 berdasarkan KTI Nasional dalam majalah JKGI dan ITKG.  Sedangkan informasi tingkat permasalahan industri keramik didekati dari jajak pendapat 20 asesor industri keramik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode statistik deskriptif dan inferensial ANOVA dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil perhitungan ANOVA memberikan nilai p-value dibawah 0,05 dan perhitungan nilai F 4,75 (diatas kriteria F 2,87) yang menunjukkan bahwa penelitian-penelitian glasir selama ini memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan permasalahan di industri keramik Indonesia. Walaupun demikian, dalam kaitannya dengan industri keramik yang lebih besar, beberapa hal perlu ditingkatkan dalam penelitian bahan baku dan teknologi proses yang juga dibahas dalam kajian ini.
